Joaquin Phoenix has come out of his self imposed retirement from Hollywood for a good cause. He is lending his celebrity to the controversial PETA group. The animal rights group is targeting those people who wear real snakeskin.
Phoenix has been somewhat of a laughing stock in the past year among the Hollywood gossip scene. He made headlines after announcing he was retiring from the film industry in order to pursue his rap music career. His appearance on a late night talk show fueled rumors about his mental state and possible drug use.
He has since cleaned up and is offering his support for reptilians around the world. The graphic video plays while Phoenix narrates during the emotional scene. The reptilian skin trade is a brutal industry with no regard to the lives of the animals that are ruthlessly slaughtered every day. He appeals to his fellow celebrities to stop wearing or purchasing high end designer purses and bags that are made with snake and lizard skin.
PETA will be forwarding the video to stars like Jessica Simpson, Sarah Jessica Parker and Victoria Beckham. These celebrities are notorious fashion trend setters, and they have the ability to sway the public away from the purchase of these goods.
Poor man child. Parents really are to blame. Joaquin Phoenix Bottom’s brother was River Jude Bottom Phoenix, sister Rain Joan of Arc Bottom and Libertad Mariposa Bottom .
When he decides he needs some protein - I expect he’ll go cannibal.

Exclusive: PETAs Pet Killing Program Set a New Record in 2009
Public Records: PETA Found Adoptive Homes for Just 1 out of 300 Animals
Animal lovers worldwide now have access to more than a decades worth of proof that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) kills thousands of defenseless pets at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. Since 1998, PETA has opted to put down 23,640 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens instead of finding homes for them.
PETAs Animal Record report for 2009, filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, shows that the animal rights group killed 97 percent of the dogs and cats in its care last year. During all of 2009, PETA found adoptive homes for just eight pets.
Just eight animals — out of the 2,366 it took in. PETA just broke its own record.
Why would an animal rights group secretly kill animals at its headquarters? PETAs continued silence on the matter makes it hard to say for sure. But from a cost-saving standpoint, PETAs hypocrisy isnt difficult to understand: Killing adoptable cats and dogs and storing the bodies in a walk-in freezer until they can be cremated requires far less money and effort than caring for the pets until they are adopted.
PETA has a $33 million annual budget. But instead of investing in the lives of the thousands of flesh and blood creatures in its care, the group spends millions on media campaigns telling Americans that eating meat, drinking milk, fishing, hunting, wearing leather shoes, and benefiting from medical research performed on lab rats are all unethical.
The bottom line: PETAs leaders care more about cutting into their advertising budget than finding homes for the six pets they kill on average, every single day.
Ah, that is too bad. I really like him as an actor. He is very good.
Oh well, let him have his kooky charity....
What ARE those creatures???
Apparently, it's just a matter of time before those in Hollywood make that left turn.
I'm sorry, but .....
Again, sorry. Couldn't resist.
Yeah, that clean livin’ lifestyle seemed to work out pretty well for his brother River Phoenix.
