A radio show hosted by two leaders of the Hampton Roads Tea Party in southeast Virginia has been abruptly cancelled. The radio station airing the program, called FreedomWize, suddenly and without clear explanation, pulled the plug this afternoon, less than 24 hours before the show's next scheduled broadcast. Well, at the end of a very tough and trying week for the Tea Party - smears, attacks, accusations, attempts to intimidate and silence us - a station billing itself as "conservative talk radio" in Hampton Roads cancels the show. Well, at the end of a very tough and trying week for the Tea Party - smears, attacks, accusations, attempts to intimidate and silence us - a station billing itself as "conservative talk radio" in Hampton Roads cancels the show. Very strange. Or is it?

My name is Norvell Rose. I was the co-host, along with the Founder of the Hampton Roads Tea Party, Karen Miner Hurd. I have 35+ years in media and marketing, radio and TV. I was an award-winning TV journalist before that term became an oxymoron. Our show, FreedomWize, just started last weekend - it aired on Saturday afternoons. Our premiere broadcast was very well received and heard by a wide audience, as we spent countless hours promoting it. Now, we've been silenced.

It is my professional opinion that this is part of the big picture effort to "cleanse" the airwaves of Tea Party calls for a return to limited, Constitutional government. It is my professional opinion that fear of Obama's FCC is playing a big part in the background of this decision.

Our show brought many, many listeners to this relatively small radio station. The Hampton Roads Tea Party has more than 2000 members, many of whom called the station to complain about the show's cancellation.

I am greatly concerned that this kind of subtle censorship will happen with greater frequency. We all need to be alert, be aware, be insistent that voices that dissent from the State's propagandistic media machine are not shut up and shut down.

I'll continue to post updates about this situation, if there are any. Meantime, FreedomWize will continue to produce podcasts on blogtalkradio.

We had an excellent talk show host, Teri O’Brien, dropped from WLS-AM in Chicago in 2006. It was rumored that Sen. Durbin’s people complained about her. The Obama campaign tried twice to shut down Extension 720 on WGN-AM during the campaign when Obama critics were on the show.
