That’s not a SB2C Helldiver. Looks to be an F8F Hellcat with a radar dome under the right wing.
I will never forget the day we on the USS Intrepid lost a plane and pilot during dive bombing practice. It was in the middle fifties and the AD squadron was going after a spar towed behind the ship.
Standard procedure had the pilots coming in from high altitude, one by one, and bombing the spar before pulling out in a full-G manuever. In pulling out, the doomed pilot probably passed out before looping into the ocean and sinking.
