My wife voted for Barack Obama. Although she is marginally a democrat (she grew up in a dem family), she's only voted twice since she became of voting age. Once for Bill Clinton in '92 and this last time in 2008 for Barack Obama.
My wife thoroughly hates politics and nearly sat out the 2008 election until she got swept up in the "Historics of the Moment".
Although I can't get away with "bashing" Obama constantly to her---she herself now deplores him and can't stand to see him or Michele on the tv.
Now after this HC debacle ("they can't even run the $#%@&!!! post office!!!!"---my wife says of the gov't), she has vowed to vote GOP no matter what come November 2010 & 2012.
Funny thing is the only Republican she likes is Sarah Palin, although she'd "take a trained poodle on a unicycle" over Obama now.
My question is, how wide spread is this discontent among other ran-n-file, average everyday Dems and Obama voters?
Anyone else have any real life stories to share?
I was talking to my (new) neighbor, who was raving about Sarah Palin. Her husband walked up to me and said, “Don’t listen to her, she voted for Obama.” She actually looked sheepish.
My sister is pissed because she now realizes insurance won't be free and she will even be required to pay for it now instead of just going to the hospital and stiffing the doctors and hospitals. (Unless she just quits her job.)
” Dont vote GOP for the sake of voting GOP. Vote for people you can trust, not politicians.”
Very good advice. We don’t need more RINO’s
Because he's cool like Ron Paul???
“Wifey seems to get fooled by the charming, slick talkin Bamboozlers....maybe this lesson will finally sink in!”
How do you manage to maintain your marriage? My other half tells me that he voted for Clinton. I think he just tells me that to get me going! A lady at work has a Dem hubby. She just calmly states “we cancel out each others vote”. It’s like Mary Matlin and James Carvell. I would think that it would cause much arguing. I know I’d NEVER let up if hubby voted for BO that communist POS.
'Tis the same problem with Mrs WBill. She's in academia, all of her friends are in academia, all of her coworkers are in academia, etc etc etc. I will say that she's easily the most well-adjusted of them all, she's a Southern Democrat (conservative).... some of her co-workers are just.......whoa. Really out there.
She gets a cold slap in the face every April 15th. Also, when I get any kind of bonuses....
She: "You said that this bonus was going to be a thousand bucks!"
Me: "Yep, and it was."
She:"But this check is only for less than $600".
Me: "Yep, the difference is what I pay in income taxes."
She:"We pay MORE THAN FORTY PERCENT in INCOME TAX?!!@#@!"
Me: "Yep. At the margin, which is where bonuses are counted."
She:(seeing vacations, shopping, whatever evaporating...) "#@$#@%#$#$#@!!!!!!!#!$##$@!!"
Elections have consequences. I'm not looking forward to the Bush cuts being rolled back, increases to pay for healthcare, and whatever else is in the pipeline that I'm trying hard not to think about. Dunno what she'll say when she sees the same bonus checks next year.
If I get one. And if I'm still employed.
Would that be Mrs Wbill? :-)
Lots of buyers remorse, there. She's a Dem, but a conservative one. Personally, I think that she got caught up in the moment and wanted to say "MY VOTE was HISTORIC! I voted for THE BLACK GUY!!"
Some people need to learn things for themselves, and just can't be told.
If there’s a civil war, I can imagine nothing more pleasant than seeing vermin like that as my targets.
You know, as a mother, wife, Republican, conservative, Christian, and Rush listener/supporter, I was very dismayed by the conversation of the young adults and about the health care legislation and our country in general, but I definitely am also definitely not in your camp in any way, shape, or form. Evil is not speaking these days exclusively through the Left.
I doubt we will be able to agree on this, so I guess we'll just leave it at that.
I only knew 4 folks that told me that they voted for Zero, haven’t talked to any of them since the day after the election..
My father hasn`t voted for a Republican since President Nixon was in office. In the midterms, he told me last night, he is voting for whatever Republicans are on the ballot. I was in utter shock when he said this. This man has railed on and on forever about how terrible the Republicans are, and now he has turned completely around !!! Stunning....
I was just joking.
I really know lots of O supporters !!!
Am I forgiven?
The alternative was John McCain.
I think we’re married to the same person.....
Course he could vote for that poodle on the unicycle which would do 'bout as good a job.
Not all. I saw one about a week or so ago.
So what happens to all those independent Third World nations and "national liberation movements" under a one world government? Do they get swallowed up as well? And if not . . . well, it's not a "one world government," is it?
And one was talking up the need for the government to force people to return to subsistence farming as a way of life in order to save the Earth and to create a just society.
They want the "government to force" people? Must be "anarchists!" [/sarcasm]
In all seriousness though, does this anti-industrialism not sound a bit like the old Southern Agrarians of the Thirties?
I have a die-hard Lib coworker. Political arguments aren’t day-to-day in my office. Mostly pop up only when something big happens, and usually I’m the instigator.
But the day after Scott Brown was elected, he came to work steeming, and yelling, and ranting and raving how now we won’t get national health care — he lived in Canada for a while and thinks single payer is awesome, and a country’s moral obligation to “the poor.” (He’s an atheist, however, so I don’t know upon what he bases his “morality.”)
Needless to say, he’s been quite as a mouse the last couple of days. At least he has some shame....
But I also know that no matter what totalitarian $hit we find in this new law, he will *eagerly* surrender any of his remaining liberty to Obama in 2012.
He could also vote for a liberal rat like he has done for the past 30 plus years. Which is worse?
His vote though.
