Actually happened a few (about 10)years ago here in atlanta. Woman’s pit bull was mauling a child while the owner watched - apparently entertained by the spectacle. A neighbor ran into his house, got a .357 and shot the dog. At that point the owner went into a screeching frenzy attacking the neighbor screaming “Don’t hurt my dog.” So he shot her too. SHE was charged with assault. Convicted too.
