***Garter snakes also have really nasty tempers. They're related to those water snakes. ***

What really surpised me about garters is I picked one up in my driveway one time, and they can put out a smell that is rank...Never knew that before...:O)(or maybe it was just pooping, but yuk....

The blue racers are really neat....never saw a black one...Blues aren't really a blue blue....they are more like a gun metal greyish blue..they must be quite timid, they are rare to spot...

I got to see some of the animals that were taken. Most appeared in good shape. A couple died soon after being confiscated. They are beautiful animals.

This guy belongs to a friend of mine, but he and I are buddies. He's just a bit too big for me to keep because I'm alone and have to have snakes that I can work with alone. Of course, he'll also grow until he's much more than just a bit too big.

I love the pythons and boas.

Whoa! That’s lots of meat there. Have you ever eaten any kind of snake? I remember learning that if a chap is in a survival situation and have to eat some type of uncooked meat then snake is one of the safer ones. I’ve eaten gator but have never tried snake.

Likewise, I’ve had gator but not snake. I keep them solely as pets, but I guess some people could raise them for meat. Maybe the Burmese pythons would grow quickly enough to be viable as a meat source. Most snakes don’t grow and reproduce quickly enough to be of any value as a regular food.
