If they can't heed the Constitution, then neither should we... (vanity)

In light of yesterday's 'healthcare' debacle (nice to know you have a 'right' to force me to pay for your doctor's bills), we need to start ramping up the civil disobedience into something tangible and serious. We can still stop socialism without a bloody counter-revolution, but it will take more than pounding keyboards.

Let's start posting concrete actions we can all start taking to hammer government where it hurts. One small way that we can ALL help fight back is by NOT sending in our census forms. Make them come to us. Make them waste time and money on census workers scurrying around trying to find millions of us. Yeah, I know we're 'legally required' to respond, but (1) the Constitution only requires a headcount, not all the other info they are demanding and (2) they've shown themselves contemptuous of the Constitution anyway, so it's hypocritical of them to bring THAT up.

(It tickles me that I'll hopefully be moving in April, so there's a good chance they will miss me and my family entirely. Since I'm in Illinois, that's a direct blow against our Dear Leader.)

What other steps can we do to harass them? I'm thinking of non-violent harassment activities, not at a high enough level to get you arrested but enough to make life miserable for anyone in Washington that is backing socialism. Time to start chaining ourselves to the doors of public buildings? ;-)

While I agree in principle that it would be bad to have the Federales and local law enforcement riled up against us for taking matters into our own hands, I would argue that the first shot was fired Sunday, 21 March, 2010, by Congress in this war of aggression on American liberties and values. But, then, I'm not a "go-along-to-get-along" kind of guy.

I'm more of a "try-to-force-me-and-see-if-you-get-your-ass-kicked" kind of guy. I guess I learned that from my Great-Grandfathers, my Grandfathers, my Great-Uncle Lynn, my Uncle Bob, and my Dad. I picked up a little here and there in the Army, especially during Ranger school.

Except for my Dad, we're all veterans of foreign wars. I figure I have some honor to uphold for the sake of my wife, my kids, their kids to be, and all the men mentioned above.

The ballot box has failed, quite obviously. We’ve written, called, e-mailed, faxed, protested, and marched. Those in Congress and the White House and all other federal institutions mock us, belittle us, and ultimately ignore us. They classify us as potential terrorists. They control the media, the courts, the police, the military, the schools, the unions; the list goes on and on. They have endless ways with which to harass us. They take and take, and we just grumble about it and continue working and producing, hoping that someone, anyone, will finally stand up for us and fight our fight so we can keep living our lives.

They are not afraid of the citizenry. It shows in everything they say and do. They must be made to fear us before the power-mad would-be dictators at the Capitol will curtail their ways.

I’ve heard lots of theories over the years. These discussions usually end with, “Well, we’ll just vote them out in [insert relevant election date here]. We just need to wait for [insert name of this month’s political golden child here] to get into office.”

It never works!

Bringing commerce to a halt for 15 days would be more effective, but it would only be a minor irritant. “Going Galt,” as they say, is one potentially effective, non-violent tactic, but is it sustainable? Will the producers “Go Galt” in sufficient numbers and for sufficiently long to actually starve the beast in Washington, D.C., and bring the federal government to its knees? I’d like to see it, but I remain dubious.

Unfortunately, I see no better, more productive, and ultimately successful way to refresh the Tree of Liberty than with its natural manure.

Though it broke my heart, I hung my stars and stripes in distress after I read that the bill was signed into law. I double-dog-dare some asshole to come take it down.

My state flag is put away until I figure out what to do with it during this time of distress, and my Gadsden flies high. Again, I double-dog-dare some asshole to come take it down.

It will remain so until either I can no longer defend them or this nation is back under the guidance of the Founding Documents and the Framers' intent.

“But, then, I’m not a “go-along-to-get-along” kind of guy.”

“I’m more of a ‘try-to-force-me-and-see-if-you-get-your-ass-kicked’ kind of guy.”

We are similar in this, but I think it is too early.

It would serve only to strengthen their cause.

People aren’t fed-up enough to even gather and protest, much less trade bullets with law enforcement or the military.

When the masses of Americans get sick of not have money, being harassed by one gov’t goon or another, not having freedom to do as they please, etc., I hope they will rise up.

Maybe they will, maybe they won’t—I don’t know. But, they are looking very passive and very much in denial at this point.

Well, I think people are in the stages of grieving right now. Grieving for the lost republic. Seems like everyone grieves at a different rate.

My point is that many of us have been preparing for a long time and we are ready for the inevitable, while most others are still in denial and extending hope that things will change after November. I swear I'll break something if I hear that crap one more time, "Just wait until November and things will be all better. Just wait until 2012 and things will be all better."

I remain dubious and I think it's time for people to come to grips with the very real situation; because things are coming to a head here and now. Until they do so, the collectivists (Marxists, socialists, statists, whatever you want to call them) have won.
