PORTRAITURE #10
Peter the Kitty
Oil on board by Mrs. Jackson

10.5"x7"
Acquired from Salvation Army Thrift Store, Hyde Park by Scott Wilson

Stirring in its portayal of feline angst. Is Peter hungry or contemplating his place in a hungry world? The artist has evoked both hopelessness and glee with his irrational use of negative space.

Additional Information

For several years, Peter the Kitty was retired from public exhibition due to its obvious age and fraility. (At left, notice paint peeled away in chest area.) Our very dear friends at the Main Street Museum in Hartford Village, Vermont, have stablilized this painting and we are now confident that there will be no further deterioration

Mana Lisa
by Anonymous
12" x 16"
Donated by A. Schmidt, Vancouver, Canada
A cross-gender interpretation of the daVinci classic.

Mana Lisa's nose strikes nimbly, offsetting the dialogue between the foreground and profoundly varnished background.
Further, by deciphering this work's title, perhaps we can contribute to the growing body of Leonardo's anagrammatic discourse:
MAN ALIAS,
I AM NASAL,
A SAIL MAN,
AS ANIMAL,
AM A SNAIL,
MAIL NASA...

You know....I'd actually hang Peter the Kitty on my wall....there's something really cool about it.

I think it's the way the eyes follow you......angrily.

Bravo!

A local Denver uppity bedroom community - Evergreen - regularly subjects us to their artsy-fartsy tastes. What I wouldn’t give...
