I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama passed a law saying there would be no November elections, that there won’t be any new elections ever..think thats crazy to even think that, I have thought about that for a while. Knowing Obama, its possible

He might. Foment an armed conflict with juiced up mindless college liberals as cannon fodder, armed courtesy of George Soros and his ilk, in order to declare an armed insurrection, suspend the Great Writ, and simply never declare an end to the emergency, sort of like how rent-control in NYC was supposed to just be a short-term "emergency" measure - from 60 years ago!

He could try it. Would he succeed? If they think the country’s hot now, just try delaying the election. The country will be on fire.

There will be much outrage if this government takeover of health care passes. It will be worse if an amnesty bill is imposed on us by fraudulent means. There will be violence and that could certainly serve as a pretext. Almost like it was scripted. This kind of thing has played out countless times in history.

I'm fairly confident if the Civil War didn't stop the mid-term elections, nothing that Obama might cook up, will either.
There are things to be worried about, this isn't one of them.
To: jmax
No but I suspect some of his more rabid supporters will become violent if he’s voted out next time and might even get violent if he gets a full 8 years.
More likely that the marxists will try to find another means of keeping him in office.

Depends on how bad a drubbing his party is going to take.

I don’t think he can do something to stop the elections but anybody who thinks that stirring something up with Iran at the appropriate time is beyond this bunch isn’t paying attention.

You may be old enough to remember that 1968 was a tumultuous year, with a number of assassinations and a whole series of war and civil rights protests. The nation threatened to unravel. Lyndon Johnson was concerned that the November elections might not be able to be held in a state of domestic tranquility. Thus he asked the National Security Council to war-game scenaarios in which the elections could be postponed, to include legal means and justifications. The NSC presented Johnson with a menu of options.
The NSC agreed that only a declaration of martial law and a suspension of the Constitution would legally permit the president to postpone the elections by diktat. Official presidential findings were written up for contingency purposes.
Johnson asked if it would be necessary to bring the Supreme Court in on the decision, and the NSC said no. However, Johnson decided to add a step to the scenario in which Chief Justice Earl Warren would be asked to sign off on martial law and the postponement of the elections. It was really nothing more than political cover, but Johnson felt it was a smart precaution, considering his standing with the American people at that time.
This was one of those secrets that came out after Nixon's resignation in 1974, and the press catalogued it among the "White House horrors" of the era.
