I am not certain how to do that. One of the cartridges is brand new, straight from the package (and yes, I remembered to pull the tape off!). I will try that, but what is the best way to clean them?

I think our techie relies on q-tips and alcohol. What is the exact error you are seeing?

Alcohol and lens-cleaning paper, if you've got it.

If you don't have the lens-cleaning paper, use a clean coffee-maker filter.

also, try unplugging printer for a minute
