Gurpreet Singh was working his final shift as a 7-Eleven clerk, before moving on next week to full-time job at a hospital, when he was gunned down during a robbery.
Police say they can't explain why Singh, 35, was shot in the abdomen early Wednesday even after complying with the gunman's instructions to hand over his register's cash in a bag.
"He didn't put up a struggle at all," said homicide Detective Jeff Cowdrey. "He did what he was supposed to do and got shot for it."

Ah, sorry! A nice looking weapon!
yeah, kill the witness, don’t let anybody call the cops if can be avoided.
If good men do nothing then evil will triumph.(At least absent DIRECT divine intervention.)
It would probably cost too much or take up too much space (1/2 of a parking spot, possibly?), but I dont see why these stores can’t make all customers go thru 2 separate doors before they make it into the store.
When a robbery occurs, the clerk could press a button that would lock the outside door once they have opened the inside door, thus locking them inside before the police arrives.

Because the recommended Cooperate, call him sir, don't anger him action doesn't always work on criminals. Some are just plain bad.
I read once, several years ago, that being a convenience store clerk is more dangerous than being a police officer. Another point to make is that Southland Corporation, at one time and perhaps still, the owners of the 7-11 chain, had a policy of supporting gun control organizations. I stopped doing business with them for many years for that reason.
Or any Tamil Tigers either. Or Gurkhas. Or for that matter any Indian policeman.....
bump
The Tamil Tigers were technically Marxists. Their chief strategerist, Anton Balasingham, was a Catholic.
Then I wouldn’t work there, unless of course I lived in lily white Idaho, which I do.
Yes you are correct — but ethnically they are Hindu.
Well dang, he was close enough I’m sure, except probably for his shiny jet black wavy hair. I mean to tell ya, nothing like a fro to get you through the night.
