Another year, another reason to raise bloody hell over who didn't get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and who did. Tonight, a fresh class of five historic names will march into the coveted main hall: ABBA, Jimmy Cliff, Genesis, the Hollies and the Stooges.

Four Seasons and Led Zeppelin both belong, order of selection doesn’t matter.
Jefferson Airplane gets in for White Rabbit and Somebody To Love, blockbuster songs of the late 1960s. Huge, huge hits at a time when listeners weren’t driven by playlists but by what they liked. Radio had to change and it did. Jefferson Airplane was one of the biggest influences on the change.
“After the Snow’ is still in print on CD ... you have to D/L Ricochet Days for 9.99 ...magritte
I’m amazed: Not only are Tommy James and the Shondells not in the RRHOF but they are not on Farber’s list and not mentioned once in the first 100 posts on this thread.
They are without doubt the most serious omission. You don’t have a sense of the late 1960s without Hanky Panky, I Think We’re Alone Now, Mony Mony, Crimson and Clover, Crystal Blue Persuasion, Sweet Cherry Wine, Gettin Together, Draggin the Line.
Mony Mony, top rock dance song of all time, ahead of Shout.
I Think We’re Alone Now - best ever young teen love song from the teen point of view.
First band to knock the Beatles from the weekly No. 1 position on Top 40.
Plus, he had the obligatory drinking and drugging songs.
Hanky Panky - broke the censorship code.
Ladies and gentlemen, Tommy James!
Please tell me that the original poster was making a “joke”.
“The kitsch of the image overwhelms the thrill of the music.
Bull shit.
Name me one living human being over the age of 11 who *doesn’t* know “18” or “School’s Out”.
Alice’s reward will be in Heaven.
Gimme the list of HOF rockers who can say that.
I noticed.
Don’t let it happen again.
LOL!
Didn’t she own a restaurant?
Tommy James bump!
Maybe they picked Klaatu or Aaliyah that year.
CLARENCE CARTER
Bruce "Little Man" Springsteen is probably in. Isn't that bad enough?

Generic rock bands are a dime a dozen. You need something to stand out in a crowd.
Also, a lot of the old 70s bands have been forgotten. They had a chance to get in, and that moment passed. If they didn't have a top 40 hit or they're not together any more nobody remembers them.
>a lot of the old 70s bands
Wishbone Ash, anyone.
Funny we had this discussion earlier today...Breitbart is guest-hosting for Michael Savage tonight and is interviewing Pat DiNizio right now!
That is odd!
LOL...yeah...I had it on in the background and Breitbart was playing “Girl Like You” for a bumper as he came back from a break. I thought “Wow...just talking about the Smithereens earlier today.” Then Breitbart announced the guest and described him as a “raging conservative.”
I just would have thought that Zeppelin would have gotten in during the early years when the Beatles, Stones and Beach Boys did.
I remember reading back in the early 90s that Jerry Garcia was a conservative-leaning libertarian and a fan of Bill Buckley.
The group Rush has always had some very libertarian leanings.
I had heard that. I never really cared for Rush, but I saw them in concert back in 82 or 83 and they put on a fantastic show.
