No fatalities reported in Kodiak plane crash

A passenger plane crashed into trees off the end of the Kodiak airport runway this afternoon, trapping its three occupants as emergency crews worked to extract them from the wreckage entangled in trees, according to state officials.

"We can't reach those people to extract them from the aircraft at this time because the aircraft is entangled in the trees vertically, and so therefore they need to stabilize the aircraft before they try to get to those individuals," Wetherell said.

Peters later said that one of the people had been removed.

"So far, two people are still stuck inside," Peters said about 2:15 p.m.
