There are different accounts as to what happened behind closed doors at Runaways rehearsals. The punk-leaning Runaways had a brief, crash-and-burn history in the mid- to late '70s, and the upcoming film based on the story of the all-female band, which opens March 19 in Los Angeles, will present a Hollywood version of that history.

Interview with Kim Fowley in the full article. He should be a judge on American Idol and has a petition to get the gig.

He's a freaky guy but has been a fixture in the music industry since the early 1960s and speaks articulately in his observations.

Yes, Joan Jett and Lita Ford were discovered by Kim Fowley. He put the band The Runaways together from different people he saw around LA.

Kim Fowley has been insane for many years. That he ever had access to young girls is terrifying. During his homeless days the Sunset Strip was not a safe place to play.

Kim Fowley gets singled out for taking advantage of the girls but there were other men who exploited them as well.

Doesn’t defend anything he did, but the others shouldn’t be glossed over for their own misdeeds.

This is true, he did have a track record. By today’s standards the man would be considered 100% legit.

Really? Exploitation in the music business? You're kidding, right?

It comes with every contract. It's show business. Everybody exploits everybody. The problem with Kim isn't that he exploited them, the problem is he is not well mentally. He should be in an institution.

I mean some adult who had sex with several members and then someone in Japan who got at least one member (a minor) to pose scantily dressed for a magazine.

Contacts are business.
