One more thing to consider about us guys around here. I cannot think of any boy growing up in my class that did not have a crush on one of our teachers at one time or another and would have welcomed any opportunity to hook up with them. I guess it's just a boy thing.
Big difference there. A girl is a victim, and can have her life ruined by a male aggressor. A boy who is sexed up by a hot female teacher is, well, I dunno, but the phrase "luckiest boy in the world" comes to mind.
That's ridiculous, and a dangerous double-standard...
Natalie Maines (Dixie Chicks)?
I disagree. I don’t believe there is a hook to be let off of.
This time it's you.
Again, I disagree.
I'm not certain where you're trying to go with this, but I'll go with my instinct.
Being that this teacher, a woman who was ENTRUSTED with other people's children, not only broke the law of civil society and at the same time spat on the parents that sanctioned their child to her by molesting their son; but also broke the laws of God (and don't be afraid to use His name, there's an "o" in between G and d), I would say that she committed a "detestable act".
I did however say in so many words that I admire her for coming forth and admitting that she did wrong, not only in the eyes of God, but by man's law as well. The fact that she made no attempt to post bail shows that she probably wants to atone for her sins.
Regarding your sarcastic comment about me living the life of Christ? I didn't know one had to be perfect in order to acknowledge God's laws.
Now that you know how I feel about the incident, please share you thoughts.
As to your making fun of Jewish law regarding the name of G-d:
http://www.jewfaq.org/name.htm
As to the substance, you stated “Had she followed the laws of G-d in the first place, she wouldnt be in the predicament that shes in today.”
Yes, same for us all -— except for you, who are so holy, apparently.
“sanctioned their child to her by molesting their son; but also broke the laws of God”
According to the Bible I read the male age 14 is considered a man by God. Does yours have something different? The State of California doesn’t agree with my Bible, but their statutes don’t count as “the laws of God” in my eyes.
The woman did break God’s law against adultery. As far as I’m concerned that’s primarily between her and her husband.
And it is clear to me what Jesus would say to Amy Beck: “Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more”.
It's too bad you stopped there, as the Bible has quite a bit to say about improper sexual relations with a child:
The Bible nowhere speaks specifically of child molestation. Instead both the Law of Moses and the New Testament deal with sexuality in broader terms. The law of the Jews condemns various incestuous relationships, which would include child molestation by a parent. (Leviticus 18) It also deals with rape (Deuteronomy 22), homosexuality (Leviticus 18:22), adultery (Leviticus 18:20), and sexual relations outside marriage (Deuteronomy 22). All those topics could include improper sexual relations with a child or adult.
In the New Testament we find similar passages. Romans 1 talks against sexual sin 'against nature'. He also talks about adultery, and an implied condemnation of other sins including child molestation. The writer of Hebrews says the marriage bed should be undefiled (Hebrews 13:4), which would include this as well as adultery and fornication. In Ephesians (6:4) and Colossians (3:21) Paul addresses parent-child relationships, which would also rule out incest.
The Bible is not a book of rules for each possible situation, but is a guideline for living in general. The summation of the Law and prophets, according to the rabbis including Jesus, is "love God with all your heart, and soul, and mind" and "love your neighbor as yourself." If we constantly think of the best for God and others we won't be involved in such harmful acts as child molestation.
And it is clear to me what Jesus would say to Amy Beck: Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
It appears that you and Amy Beck, the teacher that committed this abominable act, disagree. As mentioned, by not posting bail, she actually wants to be "punished".
Do you honestly believe that because Jesus forgives us for our sins, that His Father doesn't want civil government to punish people? (If I ever get in trouble with the law, I want devere on my jury).
The magistrate, the ruler, "is the minister of God to thee for good". All law commands human action; it seeks either to restrain or to urge particular actions. It necessarily says either "Thou shalt" or "Thou shalt not," and it backs these commands to action or restraint with coercion, with sanctions enforced by the power of the sword. The sword and the word are united in law. And because the word commands action by men, the word of law is necessarily a morel teaching, a teaching which seeks to guide the ruled along a particular way of action, of life. This way of life which the law-word commands is what the ruler or lawgiver considers good, and for this reason it is again inevitably a moral teaching, of one sort or another. By teaching men to obey the ruler or lawgiver's commands, via the punishment of those who disobey, who break the law, and by his personal example, the magistrate can do nothing else than teach people moral principles. Looks fairly not guilty.
She walked into the police station and confessed! I’d guess that means her husband found out.
I’ve done worse...
Not making fun, just wasn't aware that His name is used that way. It appears that it's not used often, as after counting how many times His name is spelled "God" in your article, as opposed to "G-d", the score is something like 47 to 2.
Yes, same for us all - except for you, who are so holy, apparently.
Nope, I'm a sinner like all men are. I guess the diffrence between you and me is: I'm not proud of my sins (wouldn't you say that those that make excuses for sinners and their sins are proud of them?).
At least I'm not a slobbering idiot eating ice cream.
Right, because you haven't figured out that whole 'spoon' thing.
Hint: put the wider end in your mouth, not the skinnier end.
Hope that helps!
I volunteer to help rehabilitate her. She needs to be conditioned to only have sex with guys my age.
