An investigation has been launched into the death of a 13-year-old schoolgirl amid claims she hanged herself after being bullied because she was pretty. Poppy Bracey was found in her bedroom last week after returning home from her Manchester school. The teenager was taken to hospital but later died. Council officials said today they are looking into allegations Poppy was being bullied in the run up to the death.
Friends at 1,000-pupil Lowton High School, in Leigh, posted a series of messages on internet sites claiming Poppy was being picked on. One, at the specialist sports college where former pupils include Ting Tings singer Katie White, said: 'This poor girl was apparently being bullied at Lowton High School and has sadly ended her own life by hanging herself.' Another said: 'Why would someone want to bully her?? Apart from jealousy.'

They didn't do anything in 64! I had 3 guys wait across from my locker and try to cut a piece of my waist length hair. Another time they tried to light it. What did the school do? NOTHING.
Yeah. I finally learned to fight back too.
maybe you had a loving family who instilled a sense of innate self-worth in you, and maybe she didn’t.
Middle school: the worst years of my daughter’s life.
Not all of them. Kids are sheltered now. They aren't used to adversity and have NO idea how to deal with it.
I thought of the joy of “offing” other kids but not myself. LOL Actually I just wanted to see them get their butts beat!
She’s the girl. Look at the makeup on a 13 year old girl.
Where is the world going to.
Why the hell is she wearing makeup at age 13? I bet you remove the slut makeup and you have a normal looking girl.
This is horrific.
I never said it wasn't horrific. I was picked on and had an abusive Mother. I STILL never thought of offing myself. Most kids were tougher and not coddled in the 50's and 60's.
She looks just like Katie White, from the Ting Tings !
I sense a pattern here. Maybe they just called her “Hell” or called her “Stacey”. That’s not her name. That’s not her name. (Ting Tings reference, “That’s not my name”)
Maybe. It sounds as if there was more than being picked on because she was pretty going on.
It’s hard enough dealing with teenage years, but throw in a foster care/broken family situation, and the more sensitive souls can’t hold up. Prayers for her.
13 year-old girls can invent great conspiracies against themselves
Yup. I would bet it was more about foster care and family than being pretty.
There’s only one way to deal with bullies of any shape, size or gender and that’s to throw it back at them. These poor girls aren’t taught any self confidence by the parents or in schools so when someone attacks them they have no idea how to handle it physically or mentally.
I was the “victim” (hate that word) of some serious bullying in my teenage years but I had the will power to face it and fight it because my parents wouldn’t let me do it any other way. So there’s the key...be parents! If your kid is coming home depressed and sad, there’s a reason for it. Be the protector of your kids because Lord know the school won’t be.
Further, too many people think high school is the end all be all of life. It’s not. There are so many good things that are away from that 4 year hell. So much to look forward to...but no one tells them that. Every one acts like being 16 is the best time of your life. You couldn’t pay me to go back to that age.
"You're just saying that because you're on their side and you hate me too!"
Why do 12 year olds have cell phones?
I was far from sheltered and I had to learn to “take it”.
even today I still think it would be a good thing to break a few sets of teeth and bang a few heads off the pavement once of twice of those who gave it to me as a kid. I am 6-1, 240 lbs and still make it to the gym a few times a week.
