Prius driver James Sikes called 911 about 1:30 p.m. after accelerating to pass another vehicle on Interstate 8 near La Posta and finding that he could not control his car, the CHP said.

If these Death Cars of the Future have power steering and brakes when the engine isn’t running, then they don’t work the way mine does!

A CHP officer was dispatched and while driving alongside, coached Sikes over a loudspeaker on how to get control of the car, a process that involved the brakes, the emergency brake and, when the speed came down some, turning off the ignition

C'mon... really... there's something about this that just doesn't add up.

Yes.

I merely go back one page, and hit “post” again.

I get this error message almost every time I post, and the second try always works.

I live here in San Diego and have heard more of this on the various local news here. The British Press has coverage of this also.
You can take the facts as they are or not.

Would a car, that the driver said was burning up his brakes, at least have some brake dust on the wheels? Those wheels look awfully clean to me. I can clean my car’s wheels and after a day or 2, the brake dust is back.
