What are the “inaccuracies” that have been mentioned in discussions of this film.

The same inaccuracies that have been in every dramatic film ever made.

There are several scenes where four EOD guys in a HumVee are sent out without escort into hostile territory.

They also get drunk even though people who've served at Camp Victory said booze is forbidden and tough to find.

The lead character leaves camp on his own, commandeers a ride at gunpoint, and travels across Baghdad to a private residence. He later somehow wanders all the back to camp on his own, on foot, at night without incident.

No. But in the opening scene of the movie a guy does. (terrific actor Guy Pearce)

I don't seen those as "inaccuracies." I thought they were just the usual overly dramatic plot devices, and very unreal when I saw them, and I've never served so I have no first hand knowledge. I assumed the “inaccuracies” I heard about dealt more with procedure, how the two guys were on patrol in the desert, etc.

Okay, the booze part is more like what I was expecting.

My nephew is currently in Afghanistan. He is a sapper and has had four close calls so far. One more and he comes home. I pray for him and our folks every night that we won’t get that call...

Thanks. I think this actor (new to me) has an amazing future.

I watched the clip but not the whole movie. For thos who have seen it, is it fair to say the film depicts soldiers in a relatively victim status rather than heroic status.

In essence Iraq is a hopelessly mess and we struggle in vain to change it.

I didn’t get the feeling that it’s political at all. Highlighted their bravery. Main underlying theme of the main character is he is addicted to it and it’s his only true love.
