My husband told me that women officers are the worst. They are prone to abuse of power and they use their position to play favorites with the guys they like.
During 10 years in the Army I worked with or for any number of female officers. For the most part they were professional, competent and inspiring. Like their male counterparts however, there were a subset who enjoyed their power and used their authority to, I suppose, overcome their feelings of personal inadequacy by diminishing their subordinates.
My wife (an officer in the Navy for 22 years) said the same thing. She read the accounts and laughed saying that she experienced worse from SFOs, especially women. She said that the male superiors have been for more active in helping her get better ratings on her reviews that the females because she felt they recognized what was best for the Navy, not just themselves.
Sad but true.
