The massive 8.8 earthquake that struck Chile may have changed the entire Earth's rotation and shortened the length of days on our planet, a NASA scientist said Monday.
The quake, the seventh strongest earthquake in recorded history, hit Chile Saturday and should have shortened the length of an Earth day by 1.26 milliseconds, according to research scientist Richard Gross at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.
"Perhaps more impressive is how much the quake shifted Earth's axis," NASA officials said in a Monday update.
The computer model used by Gross and his colleagues to determine the effects of the Chile earthquake effect also found that it should have moved Earth's figure axis by about 3 inches (8 cm or 27 milliarcseconds).

I thought time was flying by because I was getting old.. what a relief..aging myth busted.
**SNORT**
Come to think of it, lots of things are being obscured by guys on the left....
“1.26 milliseconds”
...that bums me out. If I just had more...oops. Time’s up.
Close... Easter Island is further south off the Coast of Chile.
That is actually the Galapagos Islands and belong to Ecuador (up by the equator [ecuadór])
This is why my report is late
Galapagos?
Is this what is meant by “End Of Days” ...
This is way too soon to be making that kind of observation—especially with NASA already up to its eyeballs in the Climate Change fraud.
According to things I’ve read in the past the Earth has adjusted its rotational axis to account for cataclisims like earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and perhaps even meteor strikes.
Mr. Gross is either being disengenuous, trying to be the smartest person in the room or some conbination of the two.
Look at it this way, it’s that much closer to the end of the Obama administration.
Isn't there some space junk these scientists need to work on getting out of our orbit or something more useful?
Queue the Twilight Zone music (dee-do-dee-do...)
Actually I'm not into End Times projections - but I couldn't resist posting this one...
It was put well when someone said,
'From your perspective Today could be the End of the World.
You could get hit by a car. You could have a heart attack. Nearly 150,000 people die everyday.
Are you ready for the end of the World now? Are you resting on the Finished Work of Christ?'
Yup. That’s them.
When she told me “I felt the earth move” I was pretty proud of myself.
Its global shortening I tell you!!!
-—Free Gondwana!—
Is this the same computer model that they use to "prove" all those man-made global warming catastrophies? Then I wouldn't be goin' and puttin' too much faith in what it says, if I were them. I'm not.
An excuse to be late for work!!!
Oh man, I just love to fry chicken in that, nothing makes it tastes better than global short'nin'!!
