Well, hello Sunday readers...
I'm not in the habit of going online to ask strangers for prayers; but, my kid brother will be starting a new chapter of his life soon, and I expect that he can use all the spiritual support he can get.
Tomorrow, my youngest brother Philip will be shipping out for Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio to begin his Air Force Basic Training.
So, here goes: Prayer requests --
1.) It is very important to me that Phil will be able to find himself a good chaplain, who will admonish him to stay in the Word and stay close to God. I've encouraged him to do so; hopefully the good Lord and the US Air Force will see fit to provide.
2.) While it appears that his initial assignment will be Calibration Lab, it's my understanding that Philip is qualified to seek assignment to Combat Control. I don't know what all this entails, but I do know that Combat Control is a Special Forces assignment which he very much wishes to pursue. However, his wife is VERY much opposed to him seeking any Special Forces assignment due to the risks involved. While I've told Phil he has a Biblical duty to listen to his wife's advice, I've nonetheless advised him that this is (with God's guidance) ultimately his decision to make for himself and his family -- and would pray that his wife would be understanding and supportive of whatever path he chooses to take.
3.) Obviously, I would pray that he would acquit himself admirably in whatever duties he's assigned, and that God would keep him safe from harm (as with all our military personnel).
Any prayers on those subjects would be appreciated, as well as any advice I could pass along from Air Force veterans.
20 years in and I still have no regrets. I am 3rd generation Airman and I have to tell you he is going to have a great adventure and meet some great people over the next 4 to 30 years.
Welcome to the family.
Prayers for your brother....There are some great people in the Air Force.... Also trust he will be in God’s hands and is following his divine plan....
Thanks very much. From everything he’s saying, it’ll be more than the next 4 years, he’s seriously thinking career. At least he’s weighing the re-up bonuses of different specialties already, anyway.
Combat Control could lead to air traffic control after
service.ATC is going to have a lot of openings in the next
ten years.
Really? I’ll pass that along, thanks.
Prayers for your brother and his wife. I loved the Air Force but wished I had stayed in it for a career.
Prayers for his safe and successful career.
A prayer for your (great name :)) brother and all of America’s finest.
Thanks to all who have served, all who are serving, and all who will serve in the future.
Prayers on the way!
Both PMEL and CC will be good jobs for future private employment.
Phil's the type of guy who's never been in a fight a day in his life -- unless you count the karate ring, where he's been in hundreds. Sorta like a firearm -- almost never "goes off" by itself, but never point it at anything you're not willing to destroy. Heh. (He may be my kid brother, but I'm well aware he could wipe the floor with me in a fight).
What a wonderful thing to ask for you kid brother......
Lord we lift Phillip up to you. We ask you to put a hedge of protection around him, guide him in your ways and give him a hunger for your word. Sustain him thru all he days and thru his knowledge of you let his faith grow. Order his feet in the direction you would have him go and bring fellow Christians across his path. Help him to live his life for your glory that others will see it and desire your saving grace also. Lord as he goes off to training wrap your arms around him and his family and give them your peace that passes all understanding in Christ name we pray. Amen
GOD BLESS!!!
Big amen, and thanks.
We are an ex military family- husband was Army, older daughter was Air Force, younger daughter was Navy and son was Merchant Marine- and you can be sure that your brother will gain a lot from his experience. He will meet great people and learn a lot. The Chaplains in the military are wonderful and he won’t have to go far to find them.
We will keep him in our prayers.
Your brother chose a proud career path. Prayers for him, his wife and your family.
He made an excellent choice

Thanks to all.
Dr. Ursus mentioned that as well; thanks for the good words.
