I am generally not a big animal rights advocate but it does seem that something is wrong with keeping whales in capativity solely for the purpose of entertaining humans.

These are definitely animals kept to entertain. As I’ve said I don’t mind keeping them for learning purposes but training them for the stupid crap proves that its about entertainment.

Wild animals should not be used for entertainment purposes but those born in captively or in captivity a long time cannot be released into the wild. It would be a near certain death sentence for them.

When I was stationed at Lewis in Wash. state in the 80s, I went to some Tacoma shopping center I think it was, and there was a gorilla on display that had been there since about the 60s or something. It just seemed sad, somehow. Long time to sit in a cage and look at shoppers, jeez.

I'm against it when it comes to orcas and dolphins. As for zoo animals, well, I'd rather they didn't but the zoos do try and duplicate the animals natural habitat as best as they can.

There was an elephant named Ziggy that was thought to have tried to kill its trainer that spent 30 years in solitary confinement in a single room made for it at the Brooklyn Zoo in Chicago........I can't think of anything more horrible for a social animal such as that.
