This money is to be paid to pepole that were held past their enlistment while serving in OIF and OEF.I was one of them I was held 11 months. It's all been a big joke I applied Nov. 6,2009 still waiting on a response.Cases are supposed to be prossesed and paid in the order recieved.I have a friend with a case# that follows mine his claim has been sent to DFAS to be paid.Just wondering if any FReepers are in the same boat I am.

Good question, Hotmetal. My son was stop-lossed while serving in Iraq and has recently applied. Doesn’t surprise me that you’re having to wait so long. It also takes way too long to get the money owed to them through the GI Bill. Our veterans are paying out of their own pocket for college classes and are kept waiting far too long before being reimbursed.

I posted a comment to you but it didn’t show up.

I was saying that your question is a good one. My son recently applied too. He was stop-lossed while serving in Iraq. Unfortunately, it isn’t surprising that you haven’t received the money due to you yet. Same thing happens with the G.I. Bill. Our veterans sign up for college classes, spend their own money up front and it takes forever to get reimbursed. Hurts them financially, and this is no way to treat our Vets who earned every dime and more.

Thank you for your service, Hotmetal, and I hope the money arrives soon.

Army pay? Good luck.
It took me 4 months to convince them I’d retired and was due my retirement pay.
FWIW - it took lots of phone calls and record copies of orders and payment vouchers to get my pay started. Perseverence is key.

I hope he has better luck than I'm having. One of my friends has been paid but he submitted his app. the second day they started accepting them. Now they are not paying if you reenlisted and got a bonus while over there.

Well I suppose if a person reups, bonus or no bonus, they haven’t actually been “stop-lossed”. I believe “stop-loss” only applies to those who were prevented from retiring or being discharged on the date set per their contract with the military.

True unless their time was up for awhile before reenlisting.

Good point. In a case such as that, I’d say, pay up.
