Childress: Vikings OK waiting on Favre’s decision

INDIANAPOLIS (AP)—Minnesota coach Brad Childress knows one way to get a definitive answer from Brett Favre(notes).

Wait.

“I’m not going to put him in any box,” Childress said Friday at the NFL’s annual scouting combine. “Four weeks and change, he’s still healing up from that game (the NFC championship). He’s kind of earned that latitude.”

Whether the three-time MVP needs a month or an entire offseason .. Childress isn’t pressing the issue. He spoke with Favre twice this week, but football was not the primary topic.

Instead, the three-time league MVP was busy putting down fresh limestone on a road that leads to his mother-in-law’s house, which is on Favre’s property in Mississippi.

Been there and done that.

He has a knack for blowing the big games.

I hope that he does come back for another season.

Your lack of trophies is safe.

While it’s not mine, my team got its trophy 10 years ago. I just don’t get the Favre haters, so I keep reading the threads hoping to get enlightened.

Hasn’t happened yet.

The contempt (not hatred) that I have for Brett Favre is something that you would not understand if you are not a life long fan and follower (and shareholder) of the Green Bay Packers.

You statement tells me that since you do not understand the situation, there is little that I could say that would bring enlightenment to you.

Suffice it to say that Mr. Favre has burned his bridges as far as many of us are concerned. May he have a happy life going forward.

I am a GB fan. I’ve always enjoyed watching Brett play and never more than this year. Having him play for the Vikings is like being a grandparent - all the thrills with none of the diapers and whining etc.

I hope Brett plays as long as he wants to, but I must admit I was more than ready for him to leave the Packers and to put another group of fans through the wretchedness of his indecision in the off season.

Well I like Favre & hope he will play as long as he is healthy & has the skills.. which are both the case I feel.

I can’t believe people downplaying his abilities.. He did take his team to the Superbowl.

I guess I am just cheering also for the old guys (and it is criminal to think of someone as old at 40)
