DES MOINES, Iowa -- The annual Bacon Fest held in Des Moines this weekend is already sold out.
The third annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival kicks off on Saturday. Last year, bacon lovers indulged in 13 different kinds of bacon.
This weekend's festival is sold out. Close to 600 people have purchased tickets to chow down on more than 1,000 pounds of bacon on Saturday.
Baby Boomers Cafe in the East Village is gearing up for Bacon Fest by making their famous chocolate chunk cookies with bacon.
Owner Rodney Maxfield said they've already sold 2,800 this week.
"I think its a little bit of both. I think people just love bacon actually and of course they love the cookie, so you put two things together and you get a bacon cookie," said Maxfield.
A bacon-eating contest will wrap up the festival on Saturday afternoon. Tickets are sold out to the contest.
Had that as well; excellent.
Just another academic elitist opposing the will o' da pipples!
:O)
Yeah, but you live in Nebraska! Plus I have in-laws there (Iowa)...

Bacon Explosion = Food of the Gods...
A festival with 1000 pounds of bacon? I call that Tuesday.
