Really? Who thought this research needed to be done to advance the body of knowledge? Or did the researchers just want to be paid for doing what they do anyways?

Obviously they thought the body of knowledge should contain a documented knowledge of body. It’s the shape of things that matter.

I can imagine these "Researchers" in their initial meeting. First Researcher: "Man, I want to kick back today and surf the naked women web sites!"

Second researcher: "Lets see if we can get some dim bulb Government worker to give us a contract so we can get paid to screw off!" "What can we call this project to make sure they will pay for it?"
