The speed camera that isn't: Motorists cut back gas as they pass ex-policeman's bird box

A bird box resembling a traffic camera has put the brakes on speeding motorists racing through a village.

Retired police officer Bill Angus placed the box on a pole at the edge of his property in order, he says, to offer a little help to the local birdlife.

Wonder how long it will take for the British legal system to find a way to send him to jail? He might inconvenience the Yobs racing away from a holdup.

There is a wooden CHP vehicle on Hwy 46. It is strategically placed at the curve, almost to the top of a hill, so you don't see it until the last second. Once you know that it is there, it is a riot to see all the brake lights as you climb that hill.

He's having a bit of a chuckle over this one. Darn thing does look like a speed camera box...LOL. Even painted it bright yellow/orange.

A small town near here occasionally parks an empty patrol car on one of the through streets used as a short cut from Rt. 35 to Rt. 71. Helps keep speed down on the residential street.
