The real Bond fans might be in the minority, but anyone who's ever watched
the opening fight scene of On Her Majesty's Secret Service knows that no other Bond would stand a chance against him. In 1969, Lazenby was ahead of him time in asskicking.
He was, and is, the most physical Bond to date.

Well, we'll just chalk that up to child actors not carrying over well.
Worthington is going to be a star though.
I prefer him to another bland Jake Loserhall type.

“At least Gerard Butler is trying to shed his 300 stereotype and going for comedic roles.”
Now Gerard Butler is my choice, my kind of man. Tall (about 6’3ish), dark, and handsome. A good actor, and can even sing. Plus he chooses a variety of roles to play, all of them interesting choices. I’d almost hate to see him stereotyped as “Bond” though, as I love his malleability when it comes to different kinds of characters he chooses to play.

Plus, Butler’s Scottish, - like the original 007 ( Connery).

Yeah, and a hunk to boot. Eye candy. A man’s man as well as a woman’s man. My first choice. And he’s intelligent which is a plus.

He just starred in the highest grossing film of all time worldwide. The last person to do that was Leo DiCaprio. And before that was the latest Terminator. He was the star of that movie, IMO. He outperformed Bale.

[but he has the potential to be made to look more like him than the others]
I agree with you, Sam’s young and we got used to an older Connery. Worthington’s ‘portrayal’ will be the deciding factor - if he’s the one.

Lazenby is a couple of inches taller and was a hard drinking Australian tough guy. Believe it or not, the fights in OHMSS are a lot faster and more physical even though its a 40 year old movie. They give the Jason Bourne movies a run for their money in ferocity.
There's a scene where a huge black henchman attacks Bond in his hotel room, and Bond tears the place apart beating him senseless and unconscious, smiles and puts his tuxedo jacket on, dips a cracker in some caviar, and walks out of the room while saying, "Mmmm, Royal beluga from the Caspian."
Its the kind of attitude and physical authority that measures up well to Craig's glossy Hollywood Bond. I still give the edge to Lazenby.
