The longest-serving member of Congress said Saturday he seeks to stay in Congress.
Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) said he intends to seek reelection this fall, when he'll be 84 years old.
Dingell made the announcement on Saturday during an appearance before University of Michigan Democrats in Ann Arbor, reported the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News.

Dingell wants to hang on until redistricting in 2011 so he can pass on his seat to his wife or his son.
They tried to pass some kind of rule like that in the Senate once but Grand Wizard Byrd slobbered and drooled all over it so much that the bill couldn’t be read and voted on.
My husband is fond of telling me that it is much more likely for a politician to die in office than to be voted out. Let's hope 2010 is an exception.
Another “shovel ready” dem.
I don't think so.......I believe Dingell is nothing more than a lifetime hard core liberal from downriver Detroit but not the type of liberal as Conyers and the current party is......
I look at Dingell as the congressional counterpart of Joe Lieberman. Don't forget, Dingell was recently ousted from some committee because he didn't toe the line on global warming and he did so to help protect the Detroit auto industry.........
So he does have some redeeming factors.........
I think you better do your homework over!! Robert Byrd is 92 and the OLDEST AND LONGEST SERVING MEMBER OF CONGRESS!!That decrepid old bassard has been there since 1952!!! And uninterrupted for 50 years in the senate!!
Liberal democrats don’t know how to quit...(unless the polls say they will lose) They don’t have any blood in their body’s, just politics. Its what keeps them alive..
