When Trig Paxston Van Palin was born, his parents announced, "Trig is beautiful and already adored by us. We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives. We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this world a better place. We are truly blessed."
At Team Sarah we believe that every child is indeed created with a purpose and little Trig Palin holds a special and very dear place in our heart.
For those in our society today who would stoop to the level of making fun of a toddler with special needs for cheap laughs and the almighty dollar, they have our pity. Anyone who resorts to comedy "material" of that magnitude is simply to be pitied, as they have forgone their own dignity in order to capture the sort of shock appeal that will pathetically sustain them with the small fraction of society that would find humor in such a thing.
Comedic hacks are nothing new to the entertainment industry. We can ignore them, we can change the channel, we can call them out when we think they've crossed the line.
For us, the bottom line is that Trig is off limits. Period.
Sincerely,
Team Sarah

I’d say all her children are. We at least don’t talk about lib kids.
It’s not the “coincidence” that is the problem here. It’s the “attack”. What is the “attack”? What did they do that cast aspersions on Trig? Just making you think about him is hardly an attack, because Palin makes us think about Trig all the time.
What did they do that made fun of Trig? What did they say that attacked Trig?
If I say “Remember that governor of alaska who has a down’s syndrome child”, is that an attack on Trig?
So...you can make jokes about pregnant teens.
But not jokes about pregnant teens whose mothers are governors?
Does this mean that we can make jokes about “retard strength” but not jokes about Trig having “retard strength?”
Sorry to be crude, but this is getting down to a very fine point.
No, no and no. Not offended by any of that.
AND I am only offending about this particular episode because I am fed up. It’s so over the top at this point and no one baby/family should be the object of the kind of hate the Teig and the Palin’s have endured.
Sorry, that’s just how I feel about it.
When Palin complained about Rahm calling the liberal senators "F-in retards", she explicitly said that her complaint came from being a mother of a Down's syndrome child.
When she talks about being pro-life, she also brings Trig "into the mix". So the complaint can't just be that they "brought the kids into the mix". The complaint has been that it was an "attack" on Trig.
What was the "attack"?
Does anybody know what the attack was?
My other posts on this were pretty clear. They shouldn't have characters of politician's children. The Chelsea Clinton standard should be afforded to all politician's children. Obviously though if the kid does something illegal that would make news on its own could be covered. For example, the kids that murdered everyone at Columbine...fair game. But if a kid gets bad grade on a report card...not fair.
So every subject in the universe is fair game for humor - except Trig Palin.
I’m sorry, but that’s bs.
You are mixing apples and organges for what I’m saying. It’s simple....politician’s kids are off limits.
I was thinking of Limits & Probability.
There might be a way to insult your brother with them. Give me some time ;-)
You almost have it correct. You can’t make jokes about specific kids.
It’s funny to some to make fun of fat people, but when you put a name to that fat person and make fun of them directly then it’s bullying and mean. Most normal people don’t approve of such behavior ESPECIALLY in regards to kids. Adults are a different story.
How about celebrity’s kids?
Is it fair to make jokes about Angelina Jolie’s orphanage? Or Suri Cruise?
I haven’t watched a lot in recent years, but South Park has to have gone after them at some point, right?
I don’t think people should be mean-spirited in making jokes about politician’s kids.
For example, I think the use of Chelsea Clinton in “Beavis and Butthead Do America” was great. (”I see you have braces. I have braces too.”)
I thought the joke about Madonna seducing a homely Chelsea Clinton on SNL was over the top.
At this point, I think it would be difficult to do a storyline about Down Syndrome and NOT reference Trig Palin somehow.
So, it would be mean to say that Michael Moore is fat?
I'm not sure. It does seem she's saying we can't call liberals "retarded". And it seems she's saying that you can't bring her name up tangentially without her going off on you.
To me, she has crossed the line into politically correct whining. God knows she's been unfairly attacked, her family was dragged through the mud in disgusting and dispicable ways, and some especially vile commentators still do so on a regular basis.
But I don't think the average person is going to look at this Family Guy episode and think it is an attack on Palin, or on Down's syndrome kids, or on Trig, and so when they hear that Palin is all upset about it, it will give them a bad opinion of Palin. And to the degree Palin might have sold someone with her attack on Rahm, this will detract from it.
Already people who generally are susceptible to the argument about politically correct speech are saying Palin went too far, and made too big a deal of it.
Look, dude. Every person has a limit.
I’ve reached mine when it comes to Trig Palin.
Now, stop trying to convince me that MORE is needed.
*yawn*
Re-read my post. and see if you can find the answer in it.
I am SO glad I never watch Family Guy.
Nah...I wouldn’t count on that.
Every time the left does something else to hurt or harm a Palin child, the crowd of Palin protectors expands by millions. I hope Sarah and her family can feel the warm, soft blanket of support which exists our here for them. They have become our family and the tigress in us leaps into action with every new insult. Long after the left has done itself in through such cruelties, Sarah Palin, a modern day Ester, will go on doing what she can to save her people..God will provide.
I guess then that JimRob need to pull all the Rosie threads and Michael Moore threads. I suppose it also means that we are obligated to condemn the Michael Moore jokes in Team America. You are pushing the ultimate in PC here, btw.
There is a difference between PC and being an asshole. Making fun of a specific kid for having DS or a parent for having a kid with DS or just using kids against their or their parents approval to get ratings = asshole.
Making fun or retard stregth = crude humor funny to some and offensive to others.
