When Trig Paxston Van Palin was born, his parents announced, "Trig is beautiful and already adored by us. We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives. We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this world a better place. We are truly blessed."
At Team Sarah we believe that every child is indeed created with a purpose and little Trig Palin holds a special and very dear place in our heart.
For those in our society today who would stoop to the level of making fun of a toddler with special needs for cheap laughs and the almighty dollar, they have our pity. Anyone who resorts to comedy "material" of that magnitude is simply to be pitied, as they have forgone their own dignity in order to capture the sort of shock appeal that will pathetically sustain them with the small fraction of society that would find humor in such a thing.
Comedic hacks are nothing new to the entertainment industry. We can ignore them, we can change the channel, we can call them out when we think they've crossed the line.
For us, the bottom line is that Trig is off limits. Period.
Sincerely,
Team Sarah

And that my friend is the HC Bill in a nutshell. It’s why they have to cut backroom deals and use legislative tricks to get their “death panels” in place.
Euthanasia and “defective fetus” abortions don’t sound as good as Health Insurance Reform.
Au contraire. The politicians won't come out about it at all. It will happen by regulation, where the birthing and subsequent care of "defective " children would not be covered by health care plan.
You surely are not that naive, are you? Look what they tried to have the IRS do in the health care bill and the public didn't know a thing about it, it being specifically under reported, so the public really did not know.
And they may yet succeed with that yet. All is being done behind closed doors.
Yes , the health care non-covereage of "defective" children is possible if conservatives remain silent in the face of the treatment of Tig Palin by the left. Compulsory abortion would not be used, but the power of the wallet would be.
You are 100% right on. She is making sure our kids get a fair shake from these leftist progues.
Did Rush ever explain how he was portrayed, did he describe the character or was he playing himself in his upcoming episode? He's extremely self-effacing, can take a true joke, but I doubt he'd allow himself to be shown as a complete right-wing buffoon or such. Are the Family Guy people going to try to claim how reasonable, *fair and balanced* they are if indeed Rush comes out well?
It's low, they are notorious at the nasty stuff. The episode where they had all the characters repeating "Laura Bush killed a man" ... "Laura Bush killed a man??" over and over and over, then the deaf elephant in the next room, another not-so-subtle smack at the GOP. Another episode, where Stewie and Brian go back in time, they happen upon the wedding of Hitler's parents, they need uranium to make the time machine work so they can get back home, Brian finds out the Germans are creating nukes, "Germany is making weapons of mass destruction? Then why isn't America at war with them ... ooooh, it's not oil, aha."
Oh, funny.
Trouble is, my hub enjoys this show and I'm stuck reading a book while it's on, trying to distract my mind, unfortunately, it doesn't always work.
Because of the double absurdity of the situation.
Stewie and Chris were lost in the woods. They didn't think they would make it out alive. Chris mused about what he would do if they "could only make it out alive," and that was finally approaching a girl he liked.
When they eventually made it out of the woods alive, Stewie held Chris to his word. And it turns out the girl wasn't who we might imagine her to be (e.g., the popular chick, the hot chick, the girl-next-door type) . . . she was a girl with Down Syndrome.
Absurd.
But then sweet, when you realize Chris might actually have a crush on someone worth having a crush on---despite the fact that she might not fit the traditional stereotype. So then, once they've established that, and Chris approaches her, and they agree to go out on a date, we, the audience, find out that she's not sweet at all, like we, the audience, might imagine someone in her situation to be, but a raging bitch.
Absurd, part two.
The reference to the former governor of Alaska was a simple throw-away line, and didn't contribute at all to the thread of the bit. Kind of like how Brian has a Kucinich sticker on his Prius.
Palin's reaction to this proves she's absolutely tone deaf . . . probably didn't even watch the episode, but reacted to someone telling her about it.
Yep, it's like dealing with playground bullies--with these types of "outraged victim" responses, she's just making it profitable for scum leftists to even more loudly make jokes about the disabled. If she wants to respond, IMO she needs to skewer them with sly humor and beat them at their own game.
Some people seem to think that Sarah needs to keep her kids out of sight if she doesn’t want them hammered and ridiculed.
What is she supposed to do, stick them in a closet? She has Trig with her because that’s the right thing to do with a baby, not foist him off 364 days a year on some babysitter. And the same with her other kids when they are with her.
What is she supposed to do? Tell them they can’t come hear her for the next five or ten years or whatever? That way, they have lost their real childhoods in a loving family.
This is something that the Farrelly Brothers do a lot. They do a lot of work with different groups for the disabled and they cast a lot of disabled people in their movies. And they often have them playing real jerks.
I like this approach. Too often, disabled people are portrayed as some kind of angel who are only here to remind us how lucky we are. I like making them 3D people who can be just as nasty as anyone else.
I think we have our targeting software booted up!
I don’t think she needs to get her children locked in a closet.
But Trig has been on the cover of People. Bristol has been on the cover of People. Bristol is a national spokeswomen for abstinancy now. In various profiles on the news magazine tv shows, her kids are always in full view. There was the piece in, I think, Vanity Fair in which the reporter was in the family living room and recorded the conversations of all the kids - and Levi. And Palin quoted Britol in her facebook criticism of Family Guy.
As I said earlier, the Clintons proved that you could build a wall around your kids. The Bushes did to some degree, but the twins in their younger days played a hand in tearing it down themselves. But that calmed down after a year or two.
I do not feel like she has done a good enough job in building a wall around her kids.
Do you go around making jokes about Trig Palin’s mental retardation, or think they’re funny?
If so, you are a low-life and you should be ashamed of yourself. In my opinion.
Precisely: and that’s where the comedy comes in . . . when our pre-conceived notions are challenged. For some people, apparently, this is an uncomfortable laugh.
Have I ever made a Trig joke? No.
Have I ever heard a Trig joke? I don’t think so. (I’m not sure that Family Guy made a Trig joke).
Would I ever laugh at a Trig joke? It’s possible. I’ve laughed at a lot of jokes that are “wrong.” Laughter is not something that I can ever predict. Ever hear the one about the Catholic Priest and the chocolate bars?
I nearly wet myself the first time I saw the South Park “Cripple Fight” episode. I’m not particularly proud of it.
Lacking the ability to change that which we cannot change, we need to think about how to respond. Between the Rahm "retard" episode and this (by the way, I never heard of Family Guy before this discussion), the left has discovered Sarah's "hot button" and they are going to push it mercilessly. We can't control that. Sarah can control how she responds:
Reporter: Governor Palin, as the mother of a DS child how do you feel about Rahm Emanuel calling politician's "F'in retards?"
Palin: It concerns me deeply that the President's chief of staff is not able to respond to critics in a less juvenile manner.
Reporter: Governor Palin, how to you feel about the depiction of a DS child on the last episode of "Family Guy"?
Palin: I really can't comment on that. I haven't seen the episode. "Family Guy" has been described to me as a mean-spirited, sophmoric attempt at comedy. I am too busy working on the problem of restoring America to economic health to waste my time on such things.
That's the way to stop it. IMHO.
Why does she need to “build a wall” around her kids? She is on the road a lot, because that seems to be her mission in life at the moment, and she likes to travel with her friends and her kids.
Does she pick Trig up to be posed and photographed for a magazine cover, or do reporters follow her everywhere and take pictures of her while she’s interacting normally with her kids? I imagine it’s more a case of the photographers following here around and choosing their moments and their picture selections. In fact, some of them have deliberately tried to make trouble for her with their picture selections, although I think they’ve found that hard to do.
We don’t see much of some politicians’ kids because they may not consider them a high priority. So they sometimes used them as photo ops, but didn’t have them around very much. Sarah likes to be with her kids, not leave them behind all the time.
One of my all-time favorite Richard Pryor bits is when he talked about shooting “Stir Crazy” at the Arizona State Pen.
I can’t remember the exact wording, but it was basically, he was walking into this prison and saw “All my beautiful black brothers locked up...behind this bars...and then I started talking to them.....
Thank God we have pententiaries!”
The Trig People cover and the Bristol People cover were staged. She agreed to those articles.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a picture of Trig which was not a Palin photo op.
In a weird way, Sarah has done a much much better job of controlling the photos of Trig and Bristol that get into the media than the pictures of herself. (I’m thinking of the Runers World photo on Newsweek).
She competently smacked BOR back that he looked like a dog you just thrown a bucket of water at!!
BOR is the Pinhead over all Pinheads!!!
