The head of the UK's armed forces, Sir Jock Stirrup, has said the killing of 12 civilians during Operation Moshtarak in Afghanistan was a "serious setback".
No British troops were involved when two rockets fired by coalition forces missed its target in Marjah.
Sir Jock said the British had to focus on regaining the trust of the Afghan population but accidents were "inevitable".
Up to 15,000 Nato troops are searching for the Taliban in Marjah and Nad Ali.

JOCK....STIRRUP? Who’s his second in command? Ball Hammock?
Stuff happens.
When you live in a Taliban neighborhood and probably hide them ,and support them, it isnt amazing that a glancing blow will get you killed.
Rod Holster replaced Lance Sheathe as the XO
Sir Jock Stirrup to you.
“It’s a made up name sir. Like Silli Asaurus or Biggus....”
Hey folks!
If your father, brother, and uncles are terrorists, you might want to live in the basement.
No sympathy for terrorists using civilians as shields.
Methinks sir Jock's jock is a little too tight.
Col. Stirrup ought to get together with a certain SFC Max Fightmaster. Their names alone ought to be enough to have the Taleban running back to the hills.
I was trying to imagine what it would be like going through high school with that name. Might be rough at first, but become a real asset later on.
Might even turn out to be a good "air-name" for working in radio.
LOL!!! I almost fell out of my chair!!!!!
If he was a fisherman would he be Rod Holder?
You’re a real “glass is half full” kind of guy I see.
Well the words don’t have the same slang meaning over here as they do on your side of the pond, mind you it is an unusla combination of names to say the least :-)
It’s like you lot calling someone Randy, which is just another synonym for being horny in UK slang.
You wouldn’t be takin the mickey now wouldja?
