We saw impressive renders of Notion Ink's Adam last week, along with some speculation, but today we're getting what's probably the best look yet at this ambitious play into the tablet space.

The following specs, to be unveiled officially at MWC, are listed as "final" by the folks at Notion Ink. Take some of it with a grain of salt, as they are grossly incorrect about items like accelerometer and touchscreen (chart provided by Notion Ink):

That’s all well and good if you are business man who uses who device for nothing but business. But as we all know there is an entire world outside of the internet and word processing.

Perhaps either way this is the dawn of the age of truly useful tablets, iPad not withstanding. I personally am keen to the HP Tablet right now but really like this Adam. Hopefully the MS Courier will be released this year so I can see that one in person, it is the most intriguing out of them all.

Thin terminals, and Citrix have been able to do all that for while. The masses still chose PC’s.
People prefer to have their apps and documents on their PC’s, so if there is one of these winter storms like we had this week, and you lose your internet connection, you can still work on your documents and apps.
Plus Google can't be trusted. I doubt if many people on FR, or many conservatives(who make up 40% of this coucntry), will trust their documents to Google.
Google Docs have been around for years now, and have had very little effect on MS Office sales. Mind you, Microsoft themselves are putting a version of the next release of MS Office on the internet to be run using cloud computing from PC’s.
Anyways, we will see what happens I guess, but I really doubt if people are going to give up their PC’s. PC sales are at their highest levels ever(90 million PC’s sold in the last quarter alone), and the Chinese and Indian markets are only just getting really tapped. Plus you can get a a pretty good netbook for just $200 running a full OS, so why would you buy a dumb terminal?
I would expect PC quarterly sales to hit at least 150 million by 5 year's time, if not earlier, cloud computing or not.

Android is onboard computing. Chrome cloud computing.

After the dot com crashes few people are likely to go strictly online data storage for anything important or cherished.

Every year or two some computer consortium tries to re-introduce dumb terminals, but in never has more than niche success. There is a reason for that.

And their OS is...
And their SKD is...
And their App Store is where...
And they have how many developers...

Sometimes it’s not always about the hardware specs.

There OS is Linux based, their SDK is open, they have access to android apps and any other app that can be installed. They have over thousands of independent linux developers.

Sometimes it is about hardware specs, sometimes it’s about putting out a better product. Sometimes it is simply about not being a zombie following Jobs where ever he puts his golden pinky down.
