White House lasagne: Turkey and spinach
The Washington Times ^ | February 12, 2010 | Jennifer Harper

Red meat politics it's not.

Lasagne in the White House is not a beef and pork affair. White House chef Cristeta Comerford has spilled the beans about a favorite Obama family dish, revealing to Martha Stewart that the First Family likes their lasagne with ground turkey, ramped up with onion, garlic, tomatoes and fresh parsley. (The official recipe follows).

If Sasha and Malia eat with them it’s probably as well that it be low fat.

I’d use full-fat everything and ground beef rather than turkey. Cottage cheese is lower calorie than ricotta, but unless the curds are beat out of it they will show up in the final product.

Lucky you. I share my bday with Peewee Herman (different year).

Antonio Banderas is 17 days older than I.

Turkey in lasagna? Calling Uncle Vito, we have a job for you. Not all us Leo’s are bad but Leo’s are known to have a very, very dark side.

Iraly has filed a formal protest. Nothing that gross is ANYWHERE near lasagna.

The proper way to make lasagna is 3 lbs of lasagna noodles, 3 lbs of sausage, 3 lbs of mozzarella, 3 lbs of meatballs, 3 pounds of ricotta and plain spaghetti sauce. Lay down a layer of noodles in a large baking dish, cover with other ingredients, repeat until all is used. Use multiple pans as needed. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees F until done.

Serve while hot with bread and wine. Salad is not needed.

Can't they eat less - or just take CLA?

This is an insult to White House china, IMHO. Just fire the Chef; and buy Jenny Craig. . .

Like simplicity in recipies. So the '3,3,3,3. . .works for me. Or will; will try it 'this way' next. Yum. . .

Think the Obama girls might be looking for 'dinner invites' to friends houses. (But will the host have to sign a pledge?) Will we eventually?

Vegetarians Are Evil

"Pol Pot, Adolf Hitler, Charles Manson, Genghis Khan, what is it about vegetarians that make them so especially vicious, while they believe that they are morally superior to the rest of us?"

I don’t like your recipe, but, whatever. The obama lasagne sounds disgusting.

recipe sounds fine to me, but I might use whole-wheat pasta, if I were making my own. I can see a family needing to make week-day meals much healthier, since they will be eating fancy food at official occasions frequently.

Actually, I wouldn’t use that recipe, though, because we buy Michelangelo’s frozen vegetable lasagna when it’s on sale, and call it a day.
