Thanks a million. I have worried about the effects on my hearing using the Water Pik. The idea of bubbling hydrogen peroxide seems like a soothing way to go.

It's not the soothing bubble and rush of waves on the beach, but the outcome is very nice. I think the liquid vehicle is some sort of oil. This would make sense if you are trying to get rid of wax. Like dissolves like. You can't just blast it away with water pressure.

Isn’t it glycerine? I think so.

“I do the hydrogen peroxide &/or rubbing alcohol in ear daily.”
I, for one, would be a little careful with the alcohol. Obviously it must work for you, since you are using it daily.
However, a scuba instructor friend of mine got to dumping alcohol into his ear canal to “dry it out”. What he didn’t bargain on was that he developed a perforation in his eardrum for whatever reason (never determined if it was from the drying effect of the alcohol, or he just ruptured it on a dive). Whatever the cause, he dumped alcohol into that ear, and instantly found himself on the floor with the fastest, nastiest case of vertigo any of us had ever heard of. Of course, he’d just saturated the area BEHIND his eardrum with rubbing alcohol. That is always a bad thing.
He ended up getting hauled off in an ambulance to the emergency room over that maneuver. Poorer, but wiser, he stopped using alcohol in his ears.
Just a cautionary tale.

Now that you mention it, I think so. Let me look on the box. Yes, it's anhydrous glycerine. It foams as it works so one shouldn't jam in a lot of cotton to keep it in place. And the product warns against using it if there is any kind of discharge from the ear or rash.

The calcium man says cancers thrive in a high Ph (acid) and the calcium will help keep the Ph base.Acid is *low* pH. Base is *high* pH. The body has to maintain its pH in a VERY narrow range around 7.4 or you will simply die -- much faster than any cancer could kill you. As for the calcium theory, it doesn't make any sense -- if blood pH starts to tip in the basic direction, ionized calcium (the only kind that matters) will quickly disappear from the bloodstream by binding to proteins -- abnormally low blood calcium can be deadly, quickly. The baking soda theory doesn't make sense either, at least as far as pH is concerned.

I find it amazing how so many Intelligent, Conservative FReepers Have turned downright LIBERAL at this topic..
And something like the original article, Pharmaceutical Companies would NEVER even LOOK at let alone, investigate.
You cannot PATENT naturally occurring substances, so there is no $$$$ to be made.

And the acid and base neutralize one another because its a chemical reaction turning baking soda and vinegar into water and carbon dioxide. The cayenne might get your attention, or even trigger endorphins like capsaicin, but the rest is carbonated water.
They say Vitamin C fights the common cold. But you need a strong dose five grams or so. You can dissolve, say, a tablespoon of ascorbic acid crystals in a glass of water. But it won't taste good! Very tart!
You can neutralize it with a comparable amount of baking soda, but the result is a bubbling mess.
The way to go is, dissolve the ascorbic acid and the baking soda in separate glasses of water. Then chill the glasses to near freezing. When you mix them, a profusion of small bubbles will form. The result is tasteless, but well carbonated!
You'll need to be near a toilet in about 45 minutes if the dosage was too high.

There is too much pressure in a Water-Pik. A 100ml syringe and a 14gage catheter work just fine. You control the pressure of the water flow, not a machine. They are available at veterinary supply stores.

I, for one, would be a little careful with the alcohol. It's recommended by the Divers ALert Network DAN for otitis EXTERNA, not otitis media. It should be applied with a cotton swab. I can see why your friend had vertigo.

Thank you for the tip on ear wax. I often have a nasty ear wax buildup and resort to using my Water Pik with hot water. It is an unpleasant experience. The use of hydrogen peroxide would be a great solution for my problem. Do you dilute it? How long do you let it sit in your ear?
Lay on your side and have someone pour about a cap of hydrogen peroxide (using the cap from the bottle) into the ear, you'll feel a fuzzy/crackling sort of sound (reminds me of Rice Krispies in milk lol) and the ear will feel a bit warm, perhaps a little ticklish. I would say leave it in the ear no more than 2 to 3 minutes, then just get up and let it drain out (into a Kleenex preferably), then use a Q-tip to GENTLY and *carefully* wipe the inside of the ear canal of any remaining hyd-pxde. Repeat for the other side. I use it undiluted and have never had any problem.
Take EXCEPTIONAL care to NOT let any hydrogen peroxide get into your eyes, that is a definite 'no-no'.
Hope this helps!

I don’t know about cancer or fungal infections, but baking soda can definitely cure lawn fungus like Brown Spot. 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 1 tablespoon of instant tea granules, 1 tablespoon of dormant oil, 1 gallon of warm water. Mix it all up, put it in a hand held pump sprayer and spray the lawn where needed. It works for me.

Are you thinking of pills to counter act acid reflux? Because those are two different things, from what I gather. My husband is being treated for Barrett’s Esophagus right now so I’ve been reading up on acid reflux (I know...exciting).

Yes. Most docs though are at odds about cause and effect, apparently. They say because of the tumor, candida then comes in. They believe the presence of candida is the effect, not the cause.

There are all sorts of opportunistic infections when the immune system is weakened. It's a mistake to look at a group of people with weakened immune systems, see what is the most common opportunistic infection, and then claim that that was the cause.

I don’t think that’s what they are doing. Doctors like this guy have done dissections of tumors and in the center they usually find the presence of an initial infection or parasite that the tumor grew around.
The body (ours and animals) often try to wall off infections that the immune system can’t seem to overcome. It becomes an abscess. Infectious bacteria damage tissue and give off toxins as byproducts. In rabbits their bodies wall off infections all the time and they are extremely difficult to treat because their pus is very dense and not runny like humans.
