Agree, but I would also add the dismal Washington Redskins and the equally dismal Baltimore Orioles. Neither has put a winning product on the field in years Aside from Redskins fans living in DC, no one expects either of those teams to do anything.

“1. Dallas Cowboys - 82-78 the last 10 years”

Yeah, but they have won, like, 5 championships, putting them tied with the 49ers for second all-time behind the Steelers. Here’s the problem with overrated lists: overrated things are usually pretty good. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be rated so highly. In fact, the Cowboys are a very good franchise. Unlike the 49ers and the Packers, for instance, they have been (more or less) part of the elite in three seperate decades.

Come on. We have at least won 3 super bowls. Consider Eagles and Vikings. They have never won one. BTW, next year Skins rule.

I’d pick the Boston Red Sox as most overrated team in sports history. MLB Network ranks Red Sox players ahead of others as if the Red Sox were the dominant dynasty in the 20th Century. For example, they ranked Fred Lynn and Yaz ahead of Joe DiMaggio and the rest of the legends. In another example, when discussing great Red Sox pitchers (as if), they leave out one of their greatest pitcher Babe Ruth.

Whenever you watch the Top 9 lists on MLBNetwook or Top 10 on the NFLNetwork, the actual players will laugh, disagree and demand to know who came up with the lists. The nerdy fat commentators (not the player-presenters) will proudly explain why this list is the most definitive list.

“As for some golden oldies....you can’t forget the Atlanta Braves of the 90’s.They won something like 14 straight division titles and didn’t get out of the first round of the playoffs most years!”

They were in the World Series 4 times in the 90s, winning once. Plus, they had just about the best (or at least the most star-studded) pitching staff of all time. If they were overrated, it’s because Ted Turner devoted a national network to them. But if you’re going to pick a team to broadcast that decade, aside from perhaps the Yankees that’s the one.

Yeah? Overall: 27 Series titles and 5 series titles in last 13 years says you have no clue what you're talking about

I cannot stand Danica Patrick. A man with her driving ability would never be in her position. Anna Kournikova is smokin hot, and at least she never positioned herself as something she’s not.

The reason teams are over-rated is because the media keeps picking the same teams to do well. Blame the press, not the teams .... except the Cowboys, always blame the Cowboys ........ and the Dodgers, them too. And don't forget, Anna Kournikova, mmmm, Anna Kournikova.

Cowboys and Fighting Irish are obvious, but the Zags? They’ve reached 11 straight tourneys, going 14-11 despite often getting an undercard rating; they’re the winningest West Coast team. If anything, the Cinderella thing has gotten old-hat.

“Consider Eagles and Vikings”

Since when were the Vikings overrated? They’re barely part of the national sports media conversation, except when they’re talking about Favre, who has only been with the team for a season. The sole exception, so far as I recall (and I wasn’t around in the 60s and 70s, bear in mind), was the exceptional ‘98 season. Maybe they mention a Randy Moss or an Adrian Peterson every once in a while. For the most part, we might as well not exist, given that we only show up in the championship race once or twice a decade. Oh, and because we’re not on the coast or in Texas.

Case in point, even with media superstar Favre, the vast majority of the MSSM (mainstream sports media) chattering class was in the bag for the Cowboys in this year’s divisional playoff round. They were the league’s hot team, since for once they didn’t tank in December. Never mind that the Vikings were undefeated at home. Granted, the Vikes underperformed in nationally televised games (not played against the Packers). But those guys are supposed to be experts, not people who only catch Sunday Night Football.

Sure, toss ‘em in there, too. the more the merrier! Any town where their snow removal trucks are as effective as Zambonis deserve a good slap in the face.
