Politico ^ | 2/2/10 | Steve Van Zandt

As I watched “Meet the Press” host David Gregory recently ask former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush what it’s going to take to restore Haiti to how it was, my heart started paying attention.

Gregory was asking the normal questions

I'm deeply afraid that Stevie's hero, Barack Hussein Obama, has been "re-imagining" America, for quite some time now.

Actually, it's kind of funny. He unknowingly is calling out all the liberals to put their money & ideology where their mouth is.

"So it’s time to call on Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, Sergey Brin, Larry Page, Michael Dell, Jeff Bezos, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs, Paul Allen, George Clooney, Robert Johnson, Angelina Jolie, Jay-Z, Brad Pitt, Wyclef Jean, John W. Thompson, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, the Beatles, Sean Combs, the Rolling Stones, Jonathan Demme, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, David Geffen, James Cameron, John Lasseter, futurist architects and engineers, and anybody else with expertise, vision and passion to organize a summit of Haitian leaders, with Clinton as chairman, and design a new Haiti. Let’s make it the high-tech capital of the world."

"...what it’s going to take to restore Haiti to how it was"

Yeah, that's exactly what I'd want to do. But, I guess going from zero to one is the best some people can hope for. What a bunch of poor bastards.

Imagine “Katrina Nation”. Even before the earthquake.

Imagine Detroit as a country.

Imagine North Korea, only black.

Imagine a country made up of paper mache, stucco and trash buildings.

Mmmmm...Haiti.

Let Singapore manage the place.

The remaking of Haiti would take 100 years at least. The problem with Haiti is that it never had a decent colonial past that introduced a true rule of law society. The French never did a good job with their colonies. The British on the other hand have had undeniable success in leaving rule of law societies behind in their former colonies.

In order to establish a society like the ones in the former British colonies, the U.S. or NATO would have to take possession of Haiti and require the society to be ‘reordered’ to a sustainable and law abiding society. This, of course, would cause the U.S. to be looked upon as a tormentor of Haiti, and would be roundly denounced for this.
