So should I be worried about Iran threatening to blow us up tomorrow? I am no Obama fasn, but surely his intelligence people have a handle on this...? I would hope...? Guess I will know in 24 hours... :(
The information about OMID is thought provoking. If Iran wanted to “stun the west” what better way than to “attack” another low-earth orbit vehicle; the ISS.
Since there is an international crew aboard and the Shuttle currently docked, all Iran would have to do is to be reasonably close to the ISS’s orbit (87 miles above earth I believe), detonate OMID and let the debris field take care of the rest. Coupled with an announcement of a security agreement with China, the west would be powerless to react.
Even if the detonation were designed to give the ISS crew an opportunity to escape, we’d lose all the resouces placed in the ISS and since Obama has publicly announced a cutback in manned operations, the window of opporunity would open for the Chinese who have already placed men in space.
Probaby not even close to happening...but it could be a great movie.
The new punch is that Iran has developed a weather machine and is using it to bury the east coast in 10’ of snow!
If Iran is intent on harming us, they’d better get it right first strike, or I don’t think we’ll give them a second chance, and I don’t think the administration in power at the time will get one either.

Many apologies, but I got the name of the Iranian spacecraft wrong. Omid was last year’s model, launched at nearly the same time, hence the mix-up. This year’s device is called Kavoshgar-3. I don’t know what the name means. Sorry for the confusion.
Today wasn’t as strong as predicted : But I suppose we can give it a few weeks.
Iran will be looking for any reason to say it’s defending itself, and will use a nuclear weapon before the paint on the nose-cone dries.
What gets me, is this is a silly tactic for the Muslims to use. The Muslims have masses of people. Angry, idiot people who will literally explode mine fields with children to get places. A Nuke is a horrible strategic weapon on the battlefield - when against Israel and the US even.
