Beast Writer Booted After More Plagiarism Surfaces (Gerald Posner suspended)

Newser) – The Daily Beast's chief investigative writer who "unintentionally" lifted lines from a Miami Herald article has apparently done the same thing on 4 previous occasions, cribbing from the Herald and Texas Lawyer. Gerald Posner is now on suspension from Tina Brown's online news operation, reports Gawker. "I now realize that a method of compiling information that I have used successfully since 1984 obviously does not work," Posner notes in his blog.

This is shocking to me. Posner is no cub reporter. He's a major investigative journalist. Now I have to wonder how much of his own work he did on the books that made him famous, like the JFK assassination tome Case Closed, among several others.

Talk about unintended consequences. That statement is a tacit admission that he's been plagiarizing since 1984. By successful, he obviously means it took this long to get caught.
