There are conservatives, including some of us here on Free Republic, that consider the song "We don't get fooled again!" to have a conservative theme.
The Who saved that for their final performance last night. Did anyone else note the extraordinary amount of cheering from the audience the first time they sang the refrain? Did you also catch Daltry's final line:
"DON'T YOU GET FOOLED AGAIN!!!" ?

I was freaked out by the feeble voices and old faces of those senior citizens known as “The WHO” trying to be rock stars. And all those people cheering wildly for them...or was it for the technical staff....

Considering that the album
Who's Next? came out around 1974, I always assumed the song was about being "fooled" by "Tricky" Dick Nixon. The guys are much older now, so I suppose they may have become more conservative; who knows?
However, Townshend "came out" as a bisexual about 15 years ago, so I doubt it. Roger's voice is really shot.

No, but I did notice during the pregame, the big screen in the stadium showed a picture of our troops and the crowd roared.

What are there, two members left? Which is why they are now commonly referred as "The Two".

That would be Ringo’s son, who has been with the band for I don’t know how many years. I’ve seen them twice. He’s excellent.

Read that was Ringo’s son out there playing drums.

It’s sad to hear how little is left of Daltry’s voice.

The Who are probably libs, but I did get a kick out of Roger Daltrey not wanting to perform in another global warming awareness concert recently. His quote (more or less) was “What’s the point? Is there a single person left on Earth that hasn’t been told about global warming?”
To: ROLF of the HILL COUNTRY
That was their opening song at the special concert that was held about a month after 9/11.

some synching going on? Townsend's guitar wheels were off sequence from hitting chords and sound.
Also in general very washed out. Kind of like a 1978trans am in need of a valve job and new transmission and covered with bondo. You remember how fast it went and how great it looked vs what is appears to be now Back in the day the Who was a well oiled machine: Daltry meshed with entwhistle Townsend and moon and did not over power: Sadly the opposite on this AARP sponsored event
and no guitar smashing?

That would be Zack Starkey, Ringo’s son. Keith Moon was Zack’s Godfather.

"We don't get fooled again!" to have a conservative theme I've heard Townsend say that he wrote it to express his disappointment with the "Woodstock" generation, so I suppose you could say that anything critical of that is, by default, conservative. It's not in and of itself a conservative notion to say that the more things change, the more they stay the same, it's just merely worldly wise.
To: ROLF of the HILL COUNTRY
They were so embarrassingly bad, I muted in the middle of the first song. That first sixty seconds was horrible.

Actually I heard quite clearly. He sang:
“Don’t YOU get fooled again!”
To: Obadiah
Actually, I think Roger’s voice held up fairly well. He doesn’t have the range he once had, but at least he wasn’t straining as badly as he has in recent performances.

Frankie Valli is now doing the Injun Casino circuit....saw an ad for his upcoming local appearance, and the pictures make it appear he used Joan Rivers' plastic surgeon.
Of course, he is 76....time flies.
