Pinball Wizard? Seriously?
Posted on 02/07/2010 5:13:14 PM PST by Minn
I'm trying to understand what it says about the state of American music and culture that, in every Super Bowl half time show since the wardrobe malfunction, a song less than 30 years old hasn't been sung.
I have plenty of fond memories of the Stones, Bruce, and to a far lesser extent, the Who. But what will the NFL do when all these guys are dead?

and I particularly did not care for Pinball WizardI'm with you there. Truly one of the most awful songs ever, on so many levels. The whole "Tommy" thing was abominable. In a perfectly just world, they would just now be finishing serving their time for inflicting it on us.

Did you hear Frank Sinatra in his later years See the previous post. Are we in a parallel universe or something?

I agree, listening to songs from years ago brings back lots of memories. These kids that are whining about this will learn in time what it’s like to have memories from 40 years ago. I don’t expect them to undestand right now, they haven’t lived long enough yet.

Do you still like your leisure suits too! ;-)

They are old and worn, yes. But what do you expect from 70s rockers? Actually, the last tune We Wont Get Fooled Again is spot on, if youre looking for a message to or from the voting public!!!!!! Eh????? The Who's first big hit was in 1965.

I think we have Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson to thank for this debacle. Ever since the infamous wardrobe malfunction, the NFL has taken great pains to find “entertainment” that won’t create such an uproar.
Unfortunately, having geriatric rock and rollers on the halftime show is pitiful.

The Who’s music is awesome...but Daltry and Townshend sounded a bit tired vocally. For me... the half time show “as a whole” was better than the last 10 halftime shows. Sound, lights and effects were awesome.
We won’t get fooled again...

I guess that is why their songs are the ongtracks for so many commercials, movies, and television theme songs. Their songs are great. They shouldn't be performed by elderly people.
