Teenage Spanish matador kills 6 bulls

CACERES, Spain (AP) - A 16-year-old Spanish matador killed six bulls in one afternoon Saturday, pulling off a feat normally attempted only by seasoned veterans and winning trophies for his skill—ears from animals he had just slain.
Jairo Miguel Sanchez Alonso, who nearly died from a horrific goring in Mexico in 2007, smiled broadly and waved to a friendly hometown crowd after a pageant that took about two and a half hours.
A tall and slender boy who is also amazingly articulate for his age, he showed off his stuff in an arena called Plaza Era de los Martires, or Time of the Martyrs.
The bullfighter, who goes by the stage name of Jairo Miguel, turned in his best performance with bull No. 5, a hulking black specimen that weighed 435 kilograms (959 pounds).
After skillful cape-work, he finished off the bull with a single deathblow from his sword, sliding it into a spot where it severed the beast's spinal chord. With the rest of the bulls he needed around three stabs.
This is considered too many, and Jairo Miguel acknowledged frustration with that part of his work, although he felt his effort was a success overall and said he was never scared.
"I brought out the best in myself that I could," he told The Associated Press. "It was a good afternoon of bullfighting, and people were not bored."
For the fifth bull, he was awarded the animal's severed ears, one of the bullfighting world's prizes for a job well done. He took a slow victory lap around the ring, showing the organs to the crowd.

I spent a year in Spain and went to one bullfight just to people watch. Totally disgusting. I walked out of it numb. I’m reminded of one of my favorite jokes.

A big Texan cowboy stopped at a local restaurant following a day of drinking and roaming around in Mexico. While sipping his tequila, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, but the smell was wonderful..
He asked the waiter, “What is that you just served?” The waiter replied, “Ah Senor, you have excellent taste! Those are bull’s testicles from the bullfight this morning. A delicacy!”
The cowboy, undaunted, said, “What the heck, I’m on vacation, I’ll have some!” The waiter replied, “I am so sorry Senor. There is only one serving per day because there is only one bullfight each morning. If you place your order now, we will be sure to save you this delicacy for tomorrow”
The cowboy placed the order and the next evening he was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a few bites, and inspecting the contents of his platter, he called to the waiter and said, “These are delicious, but they are much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday”
The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, “Si, Senor ... sometimes the bull wins.”

Bullfighter is a wretched event. So the teenager kills 6 bulls. Big deal.
The matador has at least 6 assistants. After they all enter the ring and show off to the crowd while studying the bulls behavior, they leave the bullring.
A mounted lancer enters the ring and pierces the bulls neck with a long spear. This weakens the bull, and the animal suffers a lot of blood loss.
This attack is followed by banderilleros. Their job is to stick two bards into the bulls shoulders (2 for each banderilleros).
Finally the matadors enters the ring, and after a number of passes, he plunges a blade through the bulls shoulder blades and into the heart, thus killing the bull.
I’d like to see that matador enter the ring at a PBR event. Now those bullfighters don’t have weapons and an army of assistants. It’s just a one, two, or three of them, their agility, and one rank, angry bull (BTW, the bull hasn’t been prodded, speared, and stabbed either).

Everytime I see a video of a bull injuring a matador, I smile. Spain, Kingdom of Cowards.(And yes, I spent a week there once).
More accurately, they're killed -- slowly and painfully -- for doing what they do only when humans deliberately taunt them into doing it.
I hope this little basket gets his just desserts when one of the bulls he eventually meets has a field day. I love it when they get gored!

The bulls are cinched in order to make the animals buck. Those rank bulls will get mean just because they fell like it. If you don’t believe me, go stand in a bull pen with one of ‘em and stare at ‘em.
I’ve never witnessed a western bullriding event in which the bull was killed, or injured for that matter. But I have seen riders killed, paralyzed, maimed, suffer broken bones, etc. by bulls.
