I never could understand Buddy Holly being so great, I was a teen in the 50’s early 60’s and never heard of him until years after he died...must have been local..
In the 1950's I didn't hear much rock and roll, either. In our home, we usually kept our Zenith radios--one a portable, and another a floor model--tuned to KFI, at 640 kcs, which mostly featured variety programming and pop standards, although an occasional rocker such as Bill Haley's "Rock Around the Clock" would sometimes be heard. KFI is now a talk station, and the Southern Californiaq home of Rush Limbaugh.
