Seems likes this was just too close to the MA vote for there to be time to get behind Hughes. Another 3 months, some more uptick in the polls and endorsements from key conservatives .... who knows.

Agreed, but if can you just imagine the sweet prospect of taking Obama’s old seat? First Kennedy and then Obama?

What’s the matter with the GOP in Illinois? The Land of Lincoln hasn’t been represented by a decent Republican Senator since Everett Dirksen died in 1969.

Nonsense.... a vote for the Greek Banker is a vote for Harry Reid .... not no how not no way!! Even a RINO from Illinois is better than another Reid rubber stamp!!
Is Kirk everything we want in a Senator? NO !! But come on, this is Illinois!! There are no Everett Dirkson’s in the Land of Lincoln anymore - at least none that can get elected in this socialist-leaning state overwhelmed electorically speaking by the mal-educated masses in Cook and Winnebego counties!

Hell no.

Yeah, Kirk is your run of the mill moderate. He voted for cap n trade, which was idiotic.

However, I’ll vote for the guy who opposed Obamacare, the stimulus, and the budget. The Dem candidate will be a rubber stamp vote for Obama, plus there is the psychological blow to the Dems of losing Obama’s seat.

My vote is for Kirk against a Dem. (that is, if I lived in Illinois)

That would, indeed, be sweet.

I see a definite silver lining here. Conservatives and Tea Partiers were feeling their oats a bit too much after the Brown win.

This is a good reminder that any advances we make are going to have to be fought for.

I’m from Illinois. Unfortunately, Roland Burris is the better of our two senators.

Kirk may not be ideal but look at the big picture. Do you want to leave the Democrats in control of both houses?

Vote for the best candidate possible in the primary, but when the general election rolls around and it's D-vs-R, hold your nose and punch the R. We can not leave Reid, Pelosi and their minions in power.

What’s the matter with the GOP in Illinois?

Nothing's the matter. The stupid primary was moved up to the first Tuesday in February to benefit the Kenyan. Illinois never moved it back.

Just wasn't enough time to get a conservative mobilized and get out the vote.

That said, this is one race where I would advocate voting 3rd party or the Libertarian candidate. Mark Kirk is a socialist.

Hold your nose for a Republican who supports partial-birth abortion?

Yes, Mark Kirk is to the left of most Dems.

Vote for the Democrat.

No! No! No! Folks, get real here. This is a Blue State. If we get someone who wins Obama’s seat and helps to move the Senate to the Republicans it is worth the effort. The party that has the majority sets the agenda. Vote for Kirk!!!

Correct, Kirk against any Democrat.
Repubs can be Rehab’d more quickly....Everyone wants to please the Tea Party voters.
LIE and you’re unemployed....is the name od the Game.
Then, after the election there are those pesky Townhall meetings for the next 6 years.
Kirk is a Quick learner, Obama can’t spell “ Deafiset Reduct”.
