John Daly has insisted he is not quitting golf, despite claiming that he was "done" with the game on Friday.
After missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open in San Diego, Daly told the Golf Channel: "I'm done... I can't play like I used to."
However, 24 hours later the two-time major winner said on Twitter: "I'm not retired and never said I was retiring.
"The interview caught me after a tough two days and much frustration. All my sponsors want me to continue to play."
The American, who shot rounds of 79 and 71 this week at Torrey Pines to miss the cut by eight strokes, added: "I'm going to honour the commitments to the tournaments that have given me sponsors' exemptions and will continue to try and get them this year."
Last year Daly cast doubt over his career after firing an 88 at the Buick Open - however, he was back on the Tour by the end of the season.

I don't want to hear from all the high and mighty moralizers talking about Daly's fall from grace, either. He has his share of demons....we all do. The fact remains, he is a great golfer, and a great personality. He's been my favorite golfer since the early 90s. He grew up in Jefferson City, MO, and played golf at U of Arkansas.
As an art lover, and as a golf fan, I will always cheer for Mr. John Daly. He has been a triunphant and a tragic figure.
I have also been a John Daly fan ever since he won his first PGA Championship. Watching him win the Buick Open a few years ago will always be one of my favorite golf moments. Regardless of what he does with his golf career, I hope he can keep his drinking days behind him, keep his health and make a better future for himself in anything he takes on.
I too wish Daly well but the odds are he is finished as a golfer. Poor health and poor attitude combine to ruin any chance of a return to greatness. The clown outfits make the whole scene even worse.
He has lost 150 lbs after a lap band procedure. That’s impressive.
