Just updated our Firefox from 3.5 to 3.6.
Am having a problem that we did not have before. When I get out of the browser and myself or someone else gets back on, we are still logged in to our email accounts as well as other accounts such as Facebook.
I have tried everything but nothing is working to change this.
Any comments or suggestions would be helpful.
I did check under the options to not remember history, etc. when we exit the browser.
Thanks!
Yes and no. Yes, it's out from Mozilla, and you can build it in Linux from source.
No, OpenSuSE's Mozilla build service doesn't have it out at this time.
They also don't have Thunderbird 3.0 available.
3.5.6 (and earlier versions going back to 3.5.1 and maybe even earlier) had freeze and crash problems that supposedly were fixed in 3.5.7. See these articles:
Is your Java plugin working in the Linux version? Mine is not; only problem I’ve encountered. Have not tried to resolve yet. Worked fine in 3.5.7 and I have recreated the link.
Firefox. Starting with Firefox 3.6, Java-based applications will NOT work unless you are running Java version 6 Update 10 or newer.
ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_18/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so libnpjp2.so
I guess I should have qualified that. It's not out for Fedora yet either that I know of, but I prefer to use the binaries from mozilla. I've had better luck that way.
I have the same problem except it is intermittent. Don’t know how to stop it, but I am not sweating about it either. I am sure their next upgrade will fix the problem as many people have complained about it.
Not a problem, and nothing to beat yourself up over.
It has been my experience that Firefox doesn't act consistently on any two computers, no matter what operating system. Each machine has it's own little quirks. i haven't been able to use Firefox to log into my Yahoo mail account for a couple of years. i use Opera for that. Never did figure out why Firefox quit doing that.
i know why this operating system and configuration doesn't do it...i took the profile folders from SuSE 9.2 when i upgraded to OpenSuSE 11.1 so that i wouldn't lose bookmarks, passwords, mail, etc.
I had Firefox 3.6 and it gave me many problems. I completely removed it and went back to 3.5. I’m not upgrading past this any time soon.
I can’t say that I blame you.
The other thing I noticed with 3.6 is that it will not automatically put saved passwords on any site that there is a saved password for. If I type the first number or letter then the rest appears.
Also, since this update, I cannot scroll up/down in my Yahoo email.
Other than that, no other problems.
I also wonder if these upgrades were made with Vista and Windows 7 in mind and not XP. I’m not planning on upgrading to W7 until I have a new computer and me thinks they might not be supporting XP much longer.
