Just updated our Firefox from 3.5 to 3.6.
Am having a problem that we did not have before. When I get out of the browser and myself or someone else gets back on, we are still logged in to our email accounts as well as other accounts such as Facebook.
I have tried everything but nothing is working to change this.
Any comments or suggestions would be helpful.
I did check under the options to not remember history, etc. when we exit the browser.
Thanks!
Did you close down all the open tabs before you got out of Firefox?
Try clearing cookies before you shut down the browser. That should require that you log back into your accounts.
Thanks, I tried that a few times and when I got back on, I had to re-enter passwords BUT when I got out of the browser this last time and got back on, I was still logged in to my email account.
Strange....I cannot figure this out.
also go to options > security and check the “saved passwords” area and remove saved password there...
On the "Main" tab towards the top, there should be a drop-down box indicating the behavior when Firefox starts--What does it say now?
Set it to keep cookies until you exit the browser then you will find yourself logged off email.
I don’t save the passwords and they are not in there. Thanks.
make that tools > options > security tab > saved passwords
And under the Settings for Closing FF, this is what is checked:
Browsing History, Download History, Form and search history, Coolies, Active log-ins, and cache
ditto
“Set it to keep cookies until you exit the browser then you will find yourself logged off email.”
Here. This is the Better Privacy addon. It will remove so-called "flash cookies". Flash cookies are persistent, and are recreated no matter what browser or operating system is used (i run Open SuSE 11.1). This extension removes those cookies when the browser is closed.
i don't know what email service you use, but they may be using a flash cookie to log you.
Glad you brought up 3.6, so I’ll stay sort of on topic. The Norton 360 toolbar doesn’t work with anything above 3.5. (No stupid flames about Norton, OK!) To solve that problem, regardless of all the “fixes” they talk about on the internet, the ONLY fix is to go back and download 3.5, uninstall 3.6 and install 3.5 ... problem solved. Official word from Norton was they will be working on it and a fix will come down in LiveUpdate (don’t hold your breath, this has been a problem for SOME TIME now). Anyway, there’s a fix for anyone having the same problem. BTW, you don’t lose your old settings as long as you don’t check that box on the uninstall).
Is 3.6 out yet?? I just checked for updates and it tells me to download 3.5.7 (still using ver. 3.0).
Are you using a Mac or a PC?
I upgraded both a linux system and a windows vm yesterday to 3.6, so I imagine it’s out.
Yes, it is 3.6. I am using a Windows Vista Home Premium computer.
I have tried doing what has been suggested but for some reason it keeps me logged into Yahoo and Facebook which never happened when exiting FF 3.5.
I might just move to Opera next.
I fixed it and I must admit, I feel like a fool.
I restarted my computer and that seemed to do the trick as when I get back into FF, my email, FB, and other items all need the passwords which is a good thing.
Thanks for your help.
