This is exactly why I didn’t join a sorority in College. The first girl that raised a paddle to me would get it splintered upside her head.

I don't understand the kind of mindset that would flout Panhel/IFC regulations, university regulations, and their organization's national regulations in order to inflict a little bit of cruelty. And I don't understand the kind of people who would undergo such sadism just to join the group that inflicted it upon them (genuine masochists excepted, of course). Why would you want to join a group that ritually spanks you in contravention of endlessly reiterated rules? And why would anyone in such a group want as a member someone so morally timid that they would subject themselves to such degrading treatment?
OTOH, there is a certain amount of prurient charm in the idea of sorority sisters ritually spanking each other, so maybe I should cut them some slack.

I dated a Sigma Gamma Rho back in college, and she didn’t go through any of this garbage. That said, there are some fraternities and sororities who have historically been known for particular types of hazing. Back in the 80’s and 90’s, a number of Kappa Alpha Psi chapters - including the one at my university - were shut down for beating pledges who failed to properly answer questions in “lineup.” Whether SGR has an organization-wide history of this sort of violence or not, I don’t know. Like I said, my gal didn’t have to deal with that crap.

allow me to have the honor of observing that all that is wrong with modern society can probably be traced to fraternity boys. And since they can't function without sorority girls, I guess they're culpable, too.

That is pretty viscious, all I recall from my University days was the initiation for some of the black sororoties and fraternities had a lot to do with public humiliation. I went to school in the 80’s and at that point hazing had become a big NO NO. I suppopse over the last few years it’s become a given that hazing is no longer practised and the focus by the Universities has become lax. Hopefully this is just a singular event at this chapter.
