In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
Augean stable \aw-JEE-un-STAY-bul\ noun
a condition or place marked by great accumulation of filth or corruption
Example sentence:
The presidency of Ulysses S. Grant was marred by his refusal to clean out the Augean stables of his own administration
Did you know?
"Augean stable" most often appears in the phrase "clean the Augean stable," which usually means "clear away corruption" or "perform a large and unpleasant task that has long called for attention." Augeas, the mythical king of Elis, kept great stables that held 3,000 oxen and had not been cleaned for thirty years -- until Hercules was assigned the job. Hercules accomplished this task by causing two rivers to run through the stables. The word "Augean" is sometimes used by itself, too -- it has come to mean "extremely difficult and usually distasteful." We can refer to "Augean tasks," "Augean labor," or even "Augean clutter."
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

i agree.
Visit Provincetown in July. That Augean stable will provide you with enough embarrassment to last for ten lifetimes and a thousand Scott Brown wins. It won’t cost you a dime, either, except maybe a few barf bags.
How much long will they keep West Virginia's voting corpse on the feeding tube to try to "save" his dependable "vote"?
the other thing about Scott Brown, as pointed out by Bill Kristol this AM, is that he was pleasant, and cheerful, and not meanspirited, nasty and down. Same true of Bob MacDonnell in VA. the firebreathing red meat stuff will play well to people like US, but not necessarily well enough to get elected by a majority.
In the event of a vacancy in West By Gawd Virginia, Governor Mancin will appoint a new Democrat, probably himself, to replace Sheets.
well him going on for 40 min about it might have been as cringeworthy as Scott Brown going on for the 5+ min or so he did last night!
His radio show is just now starting here. And I firmly agree that Brown is not a squishy RINO. I LOVED the taxpayer money going for weapons and not lawyers comment. (No offense xs)
no sane lawyers would take offense to that. terrorists need military tribunals not laywers.
That’s too good. ROR
The comment sections have turned. The momentum is with us, seriously.
i love the comment sections, they are a window into the populace. thank GOD the tide has turned.
No doubt.
This will be the best year to run since ‘94. It’s a once in a decade plus time.
The Brown victory is a great start, but the DC corruption is so entrenched that it will be the Augean stable against able Americans for quite awhile before the tide is turned.
Hercules couldn't clean out d*ck in Kahleefoania.
