CARBONITE

Just a few months ago my old computer reached the point where duct tape wouldn't help. My plan of having multiple drives didn't work, 2 out of 3 blew out with the rest of the package.

My new computer came with Vista which started showing signs of instability almost right away.

I heard Rush talking about Carbonite backup and signed up for the plan.

Last Thursday my OS really started going bonkers, nothing I tried would help. System restore would not work at all. Late Saturday I ran a reformat and recovery and got back on line. I only reinstalled the basics and turned on the Carbonite restore function. It's slow, the download is still running, but I have a lot of Tiff and large jpg files, a lot more than most folks have. All my stuff is coming back. My documents folder came in early this morning, lots of stuff I don't want to lose.

I don't usually do testamonials but Carbonite does exactly what they promise.

I'm the wrong guy to ask, 'cause I know nothing about computers....based my comment on when we were shopping just before Win7 came out; virtually every machine had a tag that if you'd buy now, you'd get the free upgrade.

Hopefully a techie will be along to help!

Photoshop alone would cost close to $1000.00 to replace if it turned out that my old version wouldn't work on Win 7. My previous printer was almost new, worked great on XP, almost useless on Vista ONLY because neither HP or Microsoft will release new drivers.

I can't afford that kind of planned obsolescence!

It may be good business but it is bad ethics!

Try actually restoring something from online.

I had a problem there with another(well known) company.

I’m in the process of restoring all my folders now, no problems. It’s slow because I can only download at night when my SIL isn’t using the connection for work. Everything is coming back in great shape!

Yeah, I gave up arguing with him or the virus that had taken over his computer and assumed his FR identity. ;)
